I wasn't sure if I was missing something or not but basically its sounds to me like your account can be hacked if you have a terrible password. I'm not defending Microsoft here but this doesn't sound like such a major vulnerability.

I'm not concerned. Don't use shytty passwords, buy points and subscription cards instead of entering your card info into Xbox live, and (a) Use a Windows Live ID that is strictly for Xbox live and/or (b) don't use the same name for your windows live ID that you use for Xbox.

I let plenty of Court threads live ("I didn't know Louis CK is Mexican" is a great example, he knows how to make legit threads), but this is not one of them.

This thread isn't going into the bushes, it's just going where it belongs.We know better...but assuming everyone else does is giving Court way too much credit. Plus he operates under the name Cockmeat Sandwich, willingly, for Christ's sake.

He makes dozens and dozens of garbage threads, loves him some him...but The Arcadium is not his personal pulpit, even though he tries his hardest to treat it so.

Honestly not something you ever have to worry about. I think that's why we have multiple mods. Also I would have merged but I was not willing to delete or close.

You pay 60 dollars a year to Microsoft and they don't have enough common sense to block you out after 5 invalid login attempts, like other FREE sites...

But Live is superior right??

You do realize hackers have programs that will keep guessing your password... Since Live allows an unlimited number of tries its easily a target for hackers..

You're right, this wasn't hacking...this was brute force password cracking (nerds know the difference, lol)

It wasn't even just an Xbox LIVE thing, anyway.

It was a Windows Live ID vulnerability that was abused by people who happened to see the most value in it by getting a hold of accounts tied to XBL and sapping as many Microsoft Points as possible...

I thought that somehow this was still around, thinking "WTF!"

but then I looked at the article's date...2012

It's been patched up for a long time, folks
