I've read Pryor Convictions and Other Life Sentences, I've listened to the Audiobook too, listened to every interview and documentary ever released on Richard Pryor, the MAJOR difference between Corey Holcomb and Richard Pryor self destruction is THIS......Dudes in here taking a comedian serious
They’re comedians not politicians, boys would clutch their pearls if they knew Pryor and Red Foxx life story
Richard Pryor never got on a massive public platform and continously critcised single black woman (who deserve to be called out btw) and other people's lives.
Corey has used the 5150 to speak a lot of truth and critique a lot of societal disfunction. The hypocrisy is that he is a blatant practitioner of everything he preaches against.
Lastly Dave Chappelle is a "comic", Patrice O'Neal and George Carlin were "comics" their fanbases take them VERY seriously, There's no logical connection between being a comic and not being taken seriously.
He tells jokes for living therefore he has green light to be a hypocrite and continue family dysfunction, coz he's a "clown", that's so illlogicall I'm shocked a dude even thinks like that.
We are not talking about Corey Holcomb the comic, we're discussing Corey the man, we recognize his comedic genius and that it stems from both a natural gift and childhood trauma... What we would like to stop is him traumatizing and continuing the vicious cycle on his children.

Nah she's good people for real. I don't know how Corey fukked that one up, when she came on the RMC shows all those years back, her entire aura was that of a very secure and calm woman, Corey was the one acting like he'd been caught in the act during those shows

Breh you're telling they couldn't finnese Speedy a regular apartment or house. Nothing fancy, just say 3/4 bedroom, with bunk beds for all his children etc
If I was a Hollywood A Lister and had a besttfriend like Speedy, I'd have laced him up with a crib and pulled some strings with people like Steve Harvey, Ricky Smiley, Big Boy etc to have on the radio as one their morning or afternoon shows cast members, make himself a decent salary and not be dependent on MY direct handouts.
But that's just me, I don't know their story or friendship dynamics.
You say that, but look at all the famous black ppl in Hollywood. They can't put their friends on like that. They dont even have that power.
Will Smith can't put Carlton on in movies and he's hella talented and best friends. Even Kevin Hart can't put his crew in his comedy films. Jamie can't put his ppl in movies unless he's directing it. Denzel can't even put his son in his movies.
Plus Foxx is never home, so maybe Speedy living there is good to see after his house etc.
Hollywood is a cold game. Speedy isn't an in demand comedian anymore like he may have been when they first met. There's plenty of funny ppl out there who wind up homeless. Foxx could get speedy his own apartment but who's gonna pay the bills etc when he's not getting booked for shows?

As far as the Hollywood white machine, I understand all that.
I was talking more about getting speedy a house and a working gig, not fame or anything major. Jammie did Finnese a radio station and put Speedy on, so again that theory is not true.
White man is the boogie man complex is just as dangerous as the uncle Tom "not all white peeplz is bad" complex. You gotta be able to finneese racist cracker systems even when it's stacked against you and your crew.
Spike Lee has HIS crew that he feeds, Kevin Hart has his crew that he feeds well, The Waynes Brothers have their blood crew, the Hughes Brothers had their crew, i just always found it weird that Speedy was staying at another man's house and not even able to finnese a relatively low level paying gig from his affiliations with Foxx...who eats off of Foxx? Rickey Smiley was paying Claudia Jordan millioms of dollars during her lil radio stint in Atlanta. When Chris Rock was the biggest comic in the world his East Coast NY comic writiring crew included a not famous Louis CK, Tony Rock and a few others who were eating from writing gigs via the Chris Rock/Adam Sanndler gravy train.
Belive me breh, if someone wants to give you lick and break you bread, they will, regardless of how big, busy or racist Hollywood/Showbiz is.
