ATL, but rasied in DMV
Sometimes I wonder if DC ever got over my cousin Ray Leonard (PG) stopping Johnny Gant (DC). This fight took place at the Capital Center in Landover (now US Airways Arena). I always thought it took place at the DC Armory up until now. I just know it wasn't televised, at least not in the DMV. I guess that did give Ray a somewhat advantage, with him growing up in Palmer Park, which is also in Landover. But Ray was too strong and fast for Gant regardless. I think they were trying to have the fight at the Armory so Gant would have the home crowd advantage instead. They tried so hard, I must have wounded up thinking that they succeeded. Anyway, that's how serious this DC/MD rivalry was. I remember so well because we were one of those Black families that moved to PG early when it was still mostly White, around the same time Ray's family did. Btw, I didn't know we were related until about 10 years ago. Anyway, I see why he took this rivalry so serious. Being a pro boxer, I'm sure he took it even more serious when he fought Gant.

Look how comfortable he is. Whites gangsta as fukk without even trying:dead:
This looks close to Eddie Leonards. I use to hit that joint every other weekend when I use to live 2 miles up on Marlboro Pike near Penn-Station Shopping Center. After moving down here too close to these racist near Atlanta, I sorta miss that area. But not much...and I mean that, even though I lived up on Marlboro Pike for eight years.

One thing for sure, you'd never see a White person jogging where that White boy was jogging. In the mid 80's you wouldn't even see a Black person jogging where he was. What we gonna see next, White girls walking their dogs there at 2:00am, in their pajamas.

If any of y’all are in Alexandria and got a taste for something, hit up this tap house joint called TJ Stones in Old Town. Me and a friend just went here earlier today for dinner.

It’s Cac-owned but the bartenders are cool asf and aren’t scared to shoot the breeze with you and the wait for food wasn’t long.

I highly recommend their TJ Bubba Burger (get it with grilled mushrooms and garlic-aioli mayo, thank me later), waffles fries (legit tasted better than even CFA), sweet potato fries, chicken wings (try the bourbon glaze and ask for ranch), and the BBQ pit crab dip. You WILL feel stuck after all that :noah:

Also, while y’all are in the AVA, be sure to hit up Harambee Books & Artworks on 1132 Prince St. It’s a Black-owned bookstore and the owner is a Southern old head named Bernard, he’s very knowledgeable and always enthusiastic to help pinpoint you to what particular book or item is calling out to you. You can find a plethora of books, artwork, crystals, black seed oils, body oils, shea butters, clothing, frankincense, sage brushes, etc., etc. up in there.
