Yeah I’ll hit that for sure. I plan on launching my store in spring but we’ll see cause I haven’t secured a location yet. Gotta go back up there in a few weeks to look at some more spots. But I might be up there as early as February. My partner wanna launch in March but that seem a little too quick. Probably April or May at the latest.

Pretty Girl County, MD
Mapping America’s diversity with the 2020 census
DC at 40% black
PG at 59%
MoCo 18%
Howard 19% black
Charles at 48.5%
Anne Arundel 17%
Baltimore County 29%
Baltimore City 57%
Fairfax 9%
Prince William 19.7%
Loudoun 7%
Alexandria 19.6%
Arlington 8.5%

RIP Chocolate City….It’s amazing DC still manages to maintain its vibrant Black culture with the gentrification going on over the years.

PG’s Black pop shrunk from 62% due to some of us moving to Charles County, Calvert County, and Anne Arundel County in addition to the growing Latino population out here :francis: We’ll see how this goes….PG thankfully prolly won’t be as caramel or frappuccino as DC is nowadays so long as we at least remain deeply entranced into the central, southern, northeastern, and southeastern parts of the county as well as keep our grip on the Inner Beltway hoods south of Exit 20. We the crown jewel of Black Maryland, so we gotta double down when it comes to our numbers.

Even Baltimore’s Black pop shrunk from the 64% it had over half a decade ago. Reason doesn’t appear to be due to gentrification tho, but moreso folks just wanting to get the hell outta Bmore.

For Chuck County, most of the Black pop growth is concentrated in that Waldorf-St. Charles-White Plains-La Plata corridor that straddles much of the north-northeastern portion of the county in addition to a lot of Black growth going on in Indian Head and Bryans Road. I’m glad to see Chuck County being damn near Chocolate County status, Maryland finna have a third mostly Black jurisdiction :wow: I lowkey do hope they continue to build up and urbanize Waldorf in the future tho. It don’t gotta be Silver Spring or Arlington but at least build that bytch up similar to Springfield or at least like Greenbelt. Bring a lil bit of development and some businesses to both Indian Head and Bryans Road because I know those two areas are starving for local commerce, most specially the former. I’m perfectly fine with the rest of Chuck County remaining country tho, I kinda prefer it that way.

General trends seems to be black people leaving DC but not at the same rate as earlier decades. People leaving PG. Baltimore suburbs getting alot of black people (probably outmigration from PG, Baltimore City, and African immigration). Most likely in a few years, there will be no majority black counties but every county will have substantial black populations (25+%)

Everyone from dc/md also running to ATL and Houston but what I don’t get is how the black population in those cities are also shrinking if not remaining the same % wise slightly, like where the fukk are people even going now. I’m perplexed :ohhh::mindblown:

I've been spending a lot of time in Baltimore City since last year. Mostly the Downtown/waterfront neighborhoods

very different yet similar to the DC area :ehh: crazy since its only 35-45 minutes away but a completely different vibe. Great food, very black, more classically/legacy city esque urbanity, cheaper, different accents, etc.

Definitely a struggling city but Baltimore has a lot going for it. If Maryland got its act together and fixed it up/truly invested in it, Maryland would be the goat state.

Im gonna be the odd one out and end up going rural if and when I leave DC. Got a lot of fam down in Orangeburg where the land and homes are still affordable.

Meanwhile homes in my neighborhood are now selling for $600k when they were going for 250-300k back in 2014.

These landlords hating on these gifting shops. I gotta try to sell them on the business cause a lot of them worried about the traffic that comes with this shyt, even though they already have plenty of them in the area. Or trying to get a nikka to rent out way more space than we need.
