Hitting dc next week. First time in about a decade..last time was only for like two days for million man march anniversary.

What’s some good activities and food spots? So far me and the wife gonna go to the African American history museum of course, national mall, White House, American art museum, the wharf..saw artech house, dopamine land and beat the bomb also recommended on TikTok.

Food spots I’ve found mastros, the breakfast club, kitchen and kocktails, Filomena, la vie, spice kitchen and sweet sweet kitchen.

High End Black Spots? Place to be Seen by Black Greeks with Good Jobs and GS-15s that moved to Maryland..? (i.e, my people, lol)
  • Dogon (impossible to get reservation last time I checked, but you can try)
  • 1) Cane (h-street ne) and 2) St. James. (U-street nw) (Food better at Cane than St. James imo, but St James is more centrally located)
    • The Bronze is an "afro-futurism" restaurant - on H.st NE - I don't know if it's still popping though
      • just checked - closed
  • Swahili Village (NW around M street?) (Assuming they handled their "stealing from the employees" issue)
  • Milk and Honey (Wharf/Waterfront)
  • The Continent (Downtown) - African
I haven't been on the scene heavy with this weather, but I honeslty can't think of any popular Black Restaurant that's not West African, Ethiopian, Trini, or Jamaican or fusion of all those.

Spots for the 'Gram
  • Iron Gate
  • L'Ardent
  • Shoto
  • Moon Rabbit
Popular/Popular with foodies
  • Le Diplomat - French (14th NW)
  • Sura - Thai (Dupont)
  • Thip Kao - Laotian (Columbia Heights)
  • Albi (SW)/Maydan (Dupont) - Middle Eastern
  • Daru (way down H-street NE) - Indian
  • L'Ardente - Italian ("Judicial Square", as if that's an actual neighborhood)
  • Anything by Jose Andres - Bazaar, Oyamel, Zaytinya, China Chilcano, etc
Expense Account/Special Occasion
  • Causa (food from the Amazon)
  • Crane's (Spanish/Japanese)
  • Pineapple and Pearls
  • Rose's Luxury
Dranks/Mixology
  • Service Company
  • Death and Co. (NYC transplant)
  • Cana - Brazilian spot
Nothing in DC can be called cheap eats, but
  • Honeymoon Chicken
  • Ramen @ Daikaya
  • The fried chicken @ Maketto
IMO, You can skip
  • Mumbo Sauce Wings (but if you must, Howard China)
  • Ben's Chili Bowl (the only worth going to is on U-street, and only good to soak up alcohol)
  • Jumbo Slice
  • Any and all Soul Food/Cajun/Creole/Southern/Comfort Food (Esp. Georgia Browns)
    • 2 Fifty has good Tx Style BBQ, but you're paying NYC prices for it. Folks from the south that are visting can skip it, imo.
  • Bus Boys and Poets

Do you have any recommendations for a restaurant that can accommodate at least 9 people? It's for my cousin's birthday party.
