I agree with the 8-10 years span. The PS3 launched around November 2006, and it's still going strong. The PS4 isn't even three years old yet, it's a little over two and a half years old. That's way too early. Most people, despite how people want to frame it, don't have $500 to just drop on a new console when they don't need to and have a perfectly good console already... or want to. That's for more the gamers who are about the performance and the latest cutting-edge technology. Nothing wrong with this at all, since PC Gamers seem to be similar in that regard, but that's definitely not the majority of the console base.
