I played the game until high school (defensive midfielder who eventually got pushed back to sweeper cause my ballhandling wasn't up to par) and I can't imagine ever doing this myself or having respect for a teammate or opponent doing it at any level.

You might as well say that purposely injuring opponents or effectively circumventing drug tests is an admirable part of the game. It's a sport, not fukking theater.

Doping is cheating yeah, but purposely leaving one in on your opponent is a very real tactic, it's just about getting away with it.
