Anyway, blame the USSF. If we had low- or no-cost options for kids like in Europe, we'd be able to develop a steady stream of good/great players even with all the athletes that go into competing sports.

This is a big one. Soccer is a poor kids sport in the rest of the world, but in America it's a pay-to-play rich kid sport. The elite travel and club teams cost a lot of money, which shrinks the overall talent pool.

They have black tops for only soccer in Europe. Like we do for basketball. And get the college cartel outta the mix.
