also in 2nd half if the stadium was half empty that doesn't bode well for the rest of the tournament. a World Cup shouldn't have empty stadiums. if even the opening game has empty seats with the hosts playing, what is going to happen at Switzerland vs Cameroon. you always need locals to actually get involved and attend games.

Yeh since September I think commentator said yesterday. They all I think play in Qatar league so don’t even have to move country. Makes sense to cheat system a bit with everyone else only having a week. so if Qatar team get together last week of October or first week of November would be good idea. But not months in advance. You’ll gain better fitness playing competitively than training for 2 months

People complain this is in middle of season which terrible idea but in terms of fitness, most players going to be in better condition now middle of club season than usual date of June for the World Cup

Well,
It worked for USA in 1994 in their run to the WC. A little different in that there was no MLS at that time and they had to be more creative with preparation.

They probably didn't get enough matches in because it is a good idea.

I've read that some people actually booked hotels in UAE for the WC instead of using what's available in Qatar.
