I think I realized what I don't like about US announcers... They (especially color commentators) don't let the game breath. They chime in with useless facts/observations that are more irritating than insightful.

Color commentators try to act like they are getting paid by the word, whereas the UK commentators have one clear, lead commentator & the second one is like a co-pilot that chimes in when needed

US TV commentators operate like it's radio, always filling up the silence

that's why I like tennis...they keep quiet during the action
