The only Gatcha portion to be honest is bulking up the characters, but seriously this is the most open armed F2P game since PSO2. Like why would you even be a whale in a game that's not even heavy on the multiplayer . This is not like Warframe where farming and spending is a must, it's just a cheap BOTW clone that's catching attention due to how polish the game is for being a F2P title. Yet, it's going to be a shytshow in the long run due to this addictive type of behavior

Basically. Id have bought it full price with some more polish but as it is now I wont bother for a year or until they have all 7 areas

The game isn’t just a cheap BoTW clone that is catching attention for being polished.

There’s a genuinely good game of its own right in here. The combat for me is miles better than BoTW, and even exploration, for which BoTW got a lot of plaudits for, is better here fore me in the context of being more rewarding.

Nobody forced this fool to do anything. I get that he's financially straight (he said he made $7,000 off one video, so he didn't actually lose money) and ultimately it's his channel so he can decide what to do....but getting all emotional talking about "I'm gonna stop making 'Genshin' videos because what if I'm tempting people to spend money on the game?"....

Anybody spending money on this game....it's on them. I told cats several times you can either spend zero dollars, mortgage your house, or anything in between. Cop the Battle Pass. Don't cop anything. I make good money and I've played mad gachas in the past so initially I thought I would be playing this or a wihle so I dropped like 200 first week. Decided I'd basically just come back in a year hwen the game is more finished since I found it boring atm. Sold that shyt for 200 granted I don't have a gambling prob and have a decent amount of disposable income. But I can def see how these joans stick they claws in those who don't have no strong will power.

LOL me either. I find junkies and such a detriment to society. That's the thing though, me and you are capable of seeing the fukk shyt with this monetization. Some aren't. And it isn't like a casino or heroin where its a huge red flag that hey, gamblers/addicts stay away. Its a videogame.

Personally I do enjoy maxing out my characters in games and shyt like that so until they rework constellations I can't fukk with this. I'm pretty sure in a few years when they've bled the whales dry they'll soften up on the retarded prices and monetization in this. And its either two ways this can go. They do do that, or they do start making content that all but mandates certain kits. Its a common strat in games like this. So I'm on the wait and see train. The gacha element actually my smallest grievance overall with the game tbh, but IDK if thats correct because it ties into everything else I can't mess with.

Well, I'd mildly argue that some may feel the full experience would be to at least have every character. I kinda get that, but I've come to terms with not getting absolutely every character in the game. AT least not from the start. I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere down the line when they at least stop making any more new characters, to make acquiring all the characters more easily, rather than pure RNG or at least have a more defined select a character you want to buy/grind to get specifically. That said, even if they never did that, nor changed their RNG systems in any capacity ever, I'd still never dump more on the game than any other game that I normally would pay for. So at best, I'd spend enough for about a full price game + average dlc/expansion cost and top it off at that, regardless the outcome. No way in hell would I be paying mortgage notes on any 1 game, especially in such a short time span and for non-guaranteed results.

I'd say it's mostly for aesthetic designs and/or completionists for sure. I know certain characters I want are just cuz I like their design, some I want cuz I like their playstyles ,tho mostly it's a combination of the two.

But yeah, I agree, even if they never added anything else to the game, the base game is big enough, varied enough and mostly polished enough alone (if it weren't server based, it'd probably be technically polished enough) and most importantly, fun enough, that it'd warrant a full retail price game.
