You guys are only looking at one piece of the puzzle.
Trying to analyze Seus without the visuals he supplied is a fools erand.

You aren't dealing with green eggs and ham, you are dealing with green eggs and green ham... a point that can be overlooked without the imagery.
Also, you can begin to understand the resentment for a food so brightly and proudly colored when you see that the dissenter is himself devoid of any color.
