Any advice on growing dreads? I got curly hair and I'm at least a year out on them. Any advice on how to maintain until I can get my hair locked? Salute.

Any advice on getting my hair to lay down when brushed, used to have waves but stopped like 3 years ago and started getting loc twists. But now when i brush my hair it wont lay down for shyt, ends up looking like i just woke up, i just stick to using a afro comb and then pat it down . Need help brehs

any brehs here never knew their hair was curly until their 20s. shyt im in my late 20s now and last year after letting my hair grow past 2 inches for the first time I learnt that I actually have hair with tight spring-like small coils all over my head. I didnt even know this about my hair cause I always had a bald fade my whole life.

If only knew I would have grown out my hair in my teens and enjoyed it before the hairline got pushed back

Only thing I hate about it though is that my hair is almost 4 inches long but the tight coil shrinkage makes it look like my hair is 1 inch long

Just copped me some Wahl trimmer from Amazon. I'll use it to keep my facial hair in check in between my bi-weekly haircuts.

If I don't shave my stubble before it really starts growing then I end up with ingrown hair. I've used many creams and ointments but nothing has worked as well as keeping it shaved every couple of days.

Just get starter locs at some salon. Tell em you want em thick, ask them if they do two strand twist and get em twisted like that if they do. If you want free form dreads just stop retwisting em after they lock

Stop retwisting literally after the first time or keep going for a bit?

I gotta start taking care of my hair again, I was thinking of getting that Olive Oil hair lotion for my scalp. It's always dry, I probably need to look into getting a different shampoo as well. The store brands never really do anything for my hair other than dry it out.

I use clippers to shave (with the grain) and then finish off with Bump Patrol Extra Strength and some after shave.

Problem is the inflammation. Thing is absolutely killing me. Some ingrown hairs also never seem to heal fully.

Do you exfoliate before shaving ?

Which clippers are u using , are you cleaning them and oiling

Clean your face and out a little castor oil or preshave.lotion.

Finish with solid after Shave moisturizer, I use witch hazel and a drop of tea tree and splash it on my face. I also use an actual saftey razor
