Recently copped the Philips Fidelio X2HR as an open-back counterpart to my M50x's.
The bass and soundstage on these things is
Still prefer the detail and highs of the M50x though, but i'll give em more time so I can get used to them.

Anyone here ever tried the Hifiman HE400SE headphones? I'm contemplating getting a pair to replace my faulty X2HR but Im reading conflicting reviews. Would they be worthy substitutes for the X2HR's?

Apple's are gonna be pretty good. I see them more as a status thing but I'm sure they're solid. I never tried them but that's how I see. I would get them if I had some money burning a hole in my pocket.

When you say beefy amp, how beefy are we talking? Is the amp that comes with a DAC beefy enough or it needs a dedicated one?

Different beasts, if you liked the x2hr i suggest getting the same model again or going for something like edition xs.
