Why the face?
Face of disgust or just appreciation?
Personally, I was looking for a more "soulful" melllow type house mix but this was pretty good as well. Much more upbeat.

What is a good resource to find new deep house music? The whole genre seems scattered (I’m probably just out of the loop) and I just randomly hear stuff from time to time that I like. I would be interested in finding more stuff like Terrence Parker.

they have great Deep House and Techno on there...i think the dude who runs it rips all of his tracks straight from vinyl
the BEST thing to do tho is take whoever produced your favorite tracks and follow their social media for new releases....good producers repost other good producers so you'll find other good artists that way too...you could also try Traxsource.com...i copped some dope Terrence Parker joints off there...producers are fukking with that site and Beatport less and less tho...but now that I think about it i found a lot of good shyt digging thru the Bandcamp.com "Deep House" section...they have great quality stuff on there

Other than liking Disclosure's Caracal, which came out a few years ago, and Hercules and Love Affair I don't know much about today's house scene. We also call it club music which is similar (house is original songs, club is songs modified with house/dance sound) with the exception of younger artists/DJs like Wallah and Lil Man.

A lot of young talent not just in Newark but the whole 973, 201 and 609 doing their thing right now in the Jersey Club scene. I could run down a whole list (99% sure I did before) but a few of those Jersey Club dudes experiment with House music too. Ezrakh seems like he's doing more R&B these days but he's is one of my favorite young producers from the Bricks doing it right now.
DJ Tameil started Jersey Club but his house mixes are legendary in their own right
The House scene in Jersey is poppin but you really gotta be on FB or know the right people to find out about all the different parties. Cricket Club and Club Elevation throws dope events. John Murray who used to own Coffee Cave (another dope spot) moved his parties to THE CAGE on Mt. Pleasant but I don't know what happened with that venue. It was a nice lil underground spot too off in the cuts. But yea if you wanna party you don't have to leave Jerz but the good thing is there's always NY and PA if you willing to travel.

Was on vacation all last week and just peeped DJ Sean Haley died of a heart attack, dude was solely responsible for me getting into house music in the 00s with the mixes he used to make well before the soundcloud and mixcloud days. this was one of the first tracks where Phonte sung for a whole track instead of a hook and nikkas were wondering if it was him because of the alias.

Sean Haley of Windimoto, Deep Rooted and one of the best DJs in Chicago has passed away. This is devastating news.

Chicago has lost another hometown musical all-star.
DJ Sean Haley, a fixture on the city’s House Music scene and truly one of the best DJs Chicago had, has passed away, according to numerous friends.
Sean Haley was an absolute giant. He was tireless in promoting soulful house music (and not just) as a DJ, producer and a promoter as well. As a producer, Sean was best known as half of Windimoto, a duo with Scorpeze. The Travels of Windimoto was the Chicago/Detroit group’s first EP, though they captured quite a bit of attention from their remix of the Sandman & Riverside featuring Jeremy Ellis track “Into Your Story,” which became the sleeper hit of the underground and a definite 5 Mag fave. He was also a member of “Deep Rooted,” a collaborative project with Sean Owens that released the Earthtones album in 2014
But my favorite track of his is still the muted, deep and techy tracks of the I-94 project with Glenn Underground, released on Ricardo Miranda‘s Noble Square Recordings in 2017
Local music scenes are held together by people like Sean Haley, who participate in every aspect of the dance music economy. They’re DJs, yeah, but they’re people that go to other people’s shows too. They buy records, they make a few more, they link up like-minded souls and – in everything he did – push a style of music with a relentless passion.
And Sean was also incredibly funny. He posted dozens of times a day on Twitter, a stream of observations, jokes, local news and life advice from a man who knew how to live it:
Sean was a working DJ – he was constantly recording and uploading mixes, including a few for 5 Mag:
And many more on Mixcloud, ranging from Nu Jazz to Broken Beat and Soul.
In this scene, you often come across people who roll their eyes at the youngins’ and hoard the knowledge they’ve gained over the years. That was not Sean Haley. One can own the most glorious record collection in the world and it matters not a bit if you keep it to yourself. That’s arrogance, pride, conceit. That was not Sean Haley either.
In retrospect, I think that’s why so many of his projects were collaborative by design. He was one of the artists that remind us that while you might DJ alone, DJing is not and has never been a solitary pursuit.
