She’s 40 now. Beyoncé was responsible for #1 hits almost a decade before Rihanna’s first hit.
All you're saying is Beyonce had more time to gather hits yet Rihanna still has way more than her. Isn't that strange to you? I'm not even a fan of Rihanna and I think Beyonce is more talented on every single metric.
Half of Rihanna’s chart topping hits are EDM based songs that wouldn’t get shown no love now.
A pop hit is a pop hit. Genre might be a little different sometimes, but it's not like Apeshyt is r&b or getting much play these days :yeshrug:

Recently, her team has been overdoing the rap-singing, anthems that are manufactured to trend (infidelity with Jay-Z, thot anthems) or ride a wave (Black empowerment, women empowerment), but the actual music has been ultimately disposable.

It's all at the expense of traditional r&b and pop hits. I'm actually shocked that with her resources she's allowed someone like Rihanna to completely overtake her when it comes to hits. It's not even close.
Beyonce's still killing it in live performances tho.

B just got her first oscar nomination.... Lemonade got her Peabody, a few Grammys, etc Black Is King won a Emmy
...
Had she stayed apolitical and stuck to making traditional rnb/pop believe her career would have stalled and she wouldnt be one of the most acclaimed artist living

She probably would have had a similar career arc to Usher, Ashanti, Ciara, etc.... other 90s r&b,pop artist

Rihanna got 14 #1s .But B got 11 (if you include Destiny's Child). Sold just about as many albums. Made a billion touring artist first and only black female artist to do so. Last tour made 200 million. And she is still relevant today. Sure she is satisfied with her decision to not keep churning out Single Ladies

The formation tour is not talked about enough when it comes to her accolades, she did $5.2 million a show! No female artist has ever did that much per show! That’s top their on the highest level. You can’t fake or manipulate fans paying hundred to come see you in person every other day. Streaming has altered and manipulated #1’s and billboard stats. Beyoncé self titled was a shock drop and lemonade wasn’t on Spotify when it first came out. Beyoncé purposely missed out on streams without a care in the world.

Now compare the Anti tour to the formation tour

Hard to describe but there's no connection to her music. You don't know who Beyonce is through her music. It all seems very manufactured and overly produced and calculated. But she's highly talented, pretty decent voice and singer, and people love her.

She’s talented, but I’d put the above her when it comes to the MUSIC:

Whitney
Mariah
Janet
MJB
Rihanna (more pop)
Dare I say Brandy...

in reality, she hasn’t had much/any competition in her space... so she gets to safely glide by lol

Tbf, Beyoncé is a decent artist. Sasha Fierce and 4 are her best albums. I grew up in that era and found her music then to be organic and unique as far as pop during the early 2010s went. She was always focused on hits and trying to appeal to a wide audience and that’s been her downfall.

As another poster mentioned, Beyoncé could have made a cool album of house or funk or alternative music and she’s avoided that possibility. It’s a damn shame. Her art suffers for trying to be safe.

Her Sasha Fierce album dropped a year before Obama became President. That album was pretty much the one that propelled her into megastardom territory because prior to that, she was more of an upper B-list singer.
By the time that album with Irreplaceable came out she was already a megastar.

There's some truth to what you're sayng, but 7 of the top 11 of all time are black.

You must really be young.

Black people didn't even care about the Grammys until like 10-15 years ago, that's why we invented shyt like the Soul Train Awards, Source Awards, Vibe Awards, NAACP awards, etc. . .

Every once in a while they'd make a big deal out of MJ or Stevie winning some Grammys and Black folks might tune in, but overall, Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, that type of shyt was seen as wypipo shyt.

They get the same type of play a record like "it's raining men." does. Meaning it's very popular with the ladies and the :wrist:for the most part. more cult classic than classic

Right, "Single Ladies" and those type of songs are almost like novelty songs, rather than legitimate classic records.

People will play the hell out of those for a long time though.

That joint my love on top or some shyt is guaranteed to be played years from now..

I've never even heard that shyt, so it can't be too popular:obama:

Weak compared to which one of her peers?

Now, this here is the issue.

Her peers are all overrated hacks too.

I think a lot of this is about the reconfiguring of the place of music in all of our lives and in our culture.

Now, music isn't as important as it was in the '70s, '80s, and '90s.

Musicians used to literally be like gods, who could get away with whatever they wanted because music was this big important thing.

Now, you got YouTubers and IG thots and Kardashians who are just as important as most musicians.

Music is mostly meaningless, so her competition is weak.

I'm confused about how you can claim that critically acclaimed, platinum-selling music, is weak :mjtf:

Who are the critics doing the acclaiming?:ld:

The media's all owned by a few people who scratch each others backs and promote each other's shyt now.

They've spent the last decade trying to convince everybody that Taylor Swift & Beyonce are the most talented artists in the history of the world and it's just not true. :yeshrug:

A lot of it is the politicization of our culture, where everything has to be seen through a racial or sexual lenz.

Beyonce has become a political agenda for all the Shea Butters, White feminists, gays, and bored housewives.

They like the IDEA of her more than they actually like her.:francis:

Same with Taylor Swift.

They give them all the accolades as a way of "getting back" at all the men who used to win all the awards

She's very manufactured.

I think it's the way she was raised.

She grew up privileged in the suburbs and her parents pushed her into the music industry.

So, she's like a hollow shell of an artist.

She had no real struggle.

She's not from the hood, or the country, or from humble beginnings.

She's basically a child star, who's had money her whole life. :manny:

Beyonce is a once in a generation talent.... but she has no real hits. You won't hear most Beyonce music played 10 years from now at a cookout.

You'll hear "before I let go" played, but guess why? Because it's a Frankie Beverly and Maze song, not a Beyonce song.

It's incredible that someone with talent like that won't go and get with some real songwriters and put out something quality, instead of this microwaved music she does, that's hot for 2 weeks and then you never hear it again.

I've NEVER heard anybody play anything from that Lemonade album. Just utter trash. Drunk in love was hot when it was hot, but that disappeared too, and you don't hear anybody playing that anymore.

It trips me out when ppl compare her to Mike Jack, as if we ain't playing that nicca's music from 30 years ago like it just came out yesterday. She'll never be on that level.

Right.

I'd argue she's not touching Janet Jackson either:sas2:
