Funny I was literally thinking I should go back & listen to her because I might have underrated her.I feel different about it after these recent listens.
Debut and Post were released 16 years apart.
...Dangerously Love, Irreplaceable, and Single Ladies still get burn to this day
I’m talking about the hits portion breh. She has voice and range, breh. Her voice may be annoying with some of the stuff she does, but she's singing most women singers of her generation off the stage. That's facts.
I’m talking about the “not having any hits” portion. That’s just blatantly untrue. She kind of is... Maybe not once in a generation, but she ranks
Adele is the only artist to get a Diamond album after 2003With all the fans she supposedly has, Beyonce don't even have a diamond album
Even Usher got a diamond album
Her first two albums can't compare to Debut and Post.
Kate is 2nd to me.
this x 100... her body of work is too generic for me, and i love a good r&b vocalist. but you gotta respect that she's ascended herself into that all-time discussion despite the lack of creative direction in her music.
she's a technically a much better vocalist than mary j blige, but i'd rather listen to MJB's catalogue any day as far being being a better artist.
i also feel like the truly transcendent r&b artists bridge the gender gap. i seriously don't know any brehs who listen to beyonce... compared to female r&b artists like sade, whitney, anita baker, mary j, etc.
