I don’t think it’s a purity test when over 70 percent of Democratic voters prefer a ceasefire. It’s actually the first time in decades where it benefits you to be critical of Israel as a Democrat. Ice has done its own work in tarnishing its image. But I reject the notion of the term purity test anyway so we’re not going to agree. People can walk and chew gum at the same time. And foreign policy is going to be a topic in general because of Trump. The idea isn’t to run away from it - it’s to have a coherent stance.
It becomes a purity test when the algorithm attempts to turn it into a voters single issue.
It was a purity test in the previous election.
Folks tried to make it the focus of the party during and after the NYC mayoral election.
Most liberals don’t approve of the war on Gaza. They even sympathize with Gazans.
But guess what, it shouldn’t even be worth much of a discussion because despite voters stance change on Israel, it still ranks near the bottom and way behind the economy, affordability, and healthcare. Hell it’s even behind crime.
But I’ll make sure I tag you during the dem primaries and midterms when it’s being spammed all over the forum.
