It’s possible for sure. Jay is still huge in his own right and people forget the hits. He would definitely have the crowd going crazy just as much as Wayne

and can match Wayne in every way tbh. And his songs has more substance and go back further, Wayne would not be playing any solo records before Carter one(maybe block is hot) and maybe back that ass up from hot boyz

jay would be pulling from the tons of classics from the 90s

would be a close battle that I think jay wins to his control of the crowd and professionalism pretty much like kiss controlling the crowd

My deal with Wayne too is that his catalogue is fukking deep as hell but how much of it have people lived with. The majority of Jay's classic tracks came before streaming was as big so people lived with albums longer. Albums were replayed way more and people grew more attached to the music while a majority of Wayne's hottest shyt came during an era where people acknowledged the music was dope and quickly moved on to the next album/mixtape. I think that plays a big factor in the reaction it gets from the crowd. I also think that's a big part of why Lox outclassed Dipset the way they did too.

So while Wayne may play something and get people like "I love this shyt" they may only be able to recite the hook and a few bars while the Jay shyt they'll know every bar on.

My bad when I say streaming era I rope in Napster and when downloading became a big thing too. I would say Jay's Blueprint and Black Album was the main ones in his catalogue that hit during that time when people no longer had to buy CDs while the majority of Wayne's best shyt came during the time when people could readily download music.

Funny, I had the same thought about Nas/Mass Appeal as Joe. He's gonna pump these projects out because it's 100% ownership. When his sales/streams go up, the newer shyt is gonna go up first. You see that right now, with Magic and KD2 being his best selling albums on the charts this week, followed by Illmatic and IWW. It's an investment for sure.

I also 100% agree that Nas knows Nasir was wack and it's not a coincidence he hasn't gone back to those slower tempo joints. That was always the Nas kryptonite to me. For instance Blunt Ashes on HHID. For a rapper that raps to the drums like Nas, a slow beat can produce a slow flow that sounds ehh. Whereas faster tempo=go off the dome, fast and dope.
