I swear I hate the new york bias sometimes

Who gives a fukk about Vado

It's alotta dope artist from other regions that they dont talk about or even attempt to get to know about but lets talk about vado for 15 min

They talk about Kehlani, Party and Summer Walker for an hour and a half every pod but god forbid they talk about Vado for the first time in who the fukk knows

Personally I enjoy when they mention dudes I nearly forgot about. Whether it’s some bay area guys talking about whoever, some east coast guys talking about whoever or some Midwest guys wondering what the fukk shawnna is doing and reminding me about what she did.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t want them to put me on to other rappers bubbling.

At the end of the day, we like it cause it’s real, they are not forced to do anything, their coverage is not based on the same metrics as say Akademiks and they do not act to cater to a wider audience. Nobody forced anyone to listen.

You’re not being fair calling that being bias. They’re from NY so they’re familiar with Vado. If they talk about a rapper from another region, they’re more than likely gonna sound ignorant because they’re not up on most music outside of NY that isn’t mainstream. People are more familiar with rappers from their region than from other regions. That’s not being bias, that’s just life. I would expect a nikka from Atlanta to know more about local rappers from Georgia than I would expect them to know about a local NY rapper or LA rapper.

Yeah that was actually a good topic and then went nowhere. I've always wondered that too. It seems as soon as a rapper has a brick or two then the world forgets about them and you just get them releasing music with no one talking about them no matter the quality once their name is no longer ringing. Rap fans are fickle as fukk.

I'm not saying they're not bias in general, I'm just saying calling them bias for talking about Vado specifically isn't fair. And majority of the music they discuss are people from regions outside of NY, hell the majority of music they talk about are R&B singers from all over the map. So I wouldn't say mainstream acts is where they lack knowledge. But when they start getting into more smaller rap artists, its NY centric, but that's to be expected.

That I agree with. Most that eventually get popping after a failed initial push almost underwent a gimmick change or completely switched the style up. But I wonder the same about established artists with big names. Like Ghostface Killah who put out classics who can drop now with hearing much about it mainstream wise.
