It goes in line with Joe's narcissistic self thinking he's a super savvy media guru that has the credentials to hand out flowers but also critique on other people doing the same he does but much more successfully.
Truthfully, its a free country and he does have that right but like you said it comes off bytch made and its jealousy veiled in praise. If Club Shay Shay's popularity would somehow drop immensely and Shannon quits the pod/interviewing game; Joe would be playing "Another One Bites the Dust" the following week.
