I get what Joe was saying, though it came out wack.
He was likely saying that nearly every time we hear about Ari is when she’s complaining about something pointless/her being a victim. Like now she’s even time traveling to find comedy series, to victimize herself.
There’s worse things in the world than your rich ass with mad fans being some type of victim. Mix up your complaints

To use “it’s worse things in the world” in response to ppl speaking on discriminatory behavior is trivializing.
We go back and point at racism in Cartoons all the time.
As it explains current behavior and conditions.
And we know this to be true, because White ppl do it all the time when we speak on the origins and perpetuation of racism.
Like how cartoons are/were a key component to normalize racism.

I don't think it's about that, I think it's about Ari going around and reaching very far to make her sad and feel like a victim too often. Which some people might find annoying. Joe obviously likes to call out people overusing a "race card". If someone throws something on stage, it's strictly because she's a dark woman or whatever the fukk, and then some long story about how institutional racism means and this and that was why it happened. And how black men don't create safe spaces for dark women, and yada yada.
When in reality it was likely just a foolish and drunk idiot who thought it would only be rap at the concert.
Joe is saying if you wanna talk about institutional racism so much, talk about the real shyt people go through too. Not just some black dude throwing a bottle of water on stage close to you, or Martin cracking jokes about someone with the same hue as him, 30 years ago.
Problem of course is, if you can't formulate your thoughts well enough, sometimes Mark will eat you up if he has the chance instead of trying to hear what that person is saying. But mostly he tries to understand what fools like Ice or Flip are saying, which is cool. Basically helping them say what they wanna say like kids lol

Joe has no credibility to be an authority figure
to speak on overusing the race card. Let alone being able to speak on the experience of darkskinned women when he’s lightskin, a known domestic abuser, a Samuelite, and still frequently goes out of his way to bash women.
Him being “a bird” doesn’t negate that fact.
When Marc said “the hair jokes were an example of an attack against darkskinned Black women” it was over.
As ANY credible Black person would admit that darkskinned Black ppl (a woman in this case) are way more likely to have 4C kinky hair, opposed to those who are lightskin. Making the “you nappy headed” comment have extra weight towards a darkskinned woman who watches it.
This logic is the EXACT same logic why Sydney Sweeney sayin
“I have good genes/jeans, my jeans are blue”
We as recognize should be able to recognize as a dogwhistle, as it’s unlikely for Black ppl to have blue eyes (genes), but likely for white ppl to have.
So no, Joe was bein loud and dumb with cheerleaders.
Marc eloquently exposed Joe for bein dumb as I expected from him, as he’s way more informed about systemic issues than Joe.
That does not take away from some people finding Ari annoying or that Joe like anyone else has a right to his opinion. Marc as usual, took it a lot further than needed. Joe used real examples related strictly to Ari (water bottle, feeling marginalized by Martin and Pam), then Marc advanced it to things not exclusively related to Ari - the most macro of things; nappy hair and watermelons.
Example of how Marc’s conversation goes. X: it’s wild that LeBron is so sensitive and doesn’t understand why people call his son wack to mediocre. Marc: have you heard about this study from Landon Dover at Harvard about the role of black fathers? No of course, it’s showcases the systematic exposition of the perceived lack of black father’s impact on the insecurities of black men. And there through their need to be protective, not seldom overprotective against the institutional hate grounded in systematic racism.
Well that’s cool but sometimes people just wanna talk about if a dude can shoot a ball or not. If Ari Lennox tries to hard to be sad or not, and if it’s a part of her business strategy.
With that being said, Marc was of course right. Just felt that the topic could’ve been contained and they could’ve limited it to talking about Ari. But of course, when it comes to “intelligent” discussions, Joe just folds when someone who is intelligent takes over.
