I'm with Joe. He just really didn't know how to articulate his point at all. There's the little things artists can do even without all the dancing. Walking around, making eye contact, talking to the audience, smiling, and just overall energy can make the performance so much more intimate and make the artist connect with the audience. I've been to some intimate concerts where the singer didn't dance at all really but just came across like they loved the music and just loved performing and that energy was infectious.
