You gotta be fukking kidding me.
Rory and Mal weren’t getting any of that YouTube money?:ohhh:
This nikka Joe told Rory to go make his own YouTube channel with leftover podcast visuals.:russ:

This is what Charlemagne did for Andrew Shulz and Andrew took that alley oop, built his YouTube up from it, started a second podcast without Charlemagne and is now one of the top Patreon earners on a podcast WITHOUT him. It’s about how you play the cards.

Ok...I'm about 90 minutes in....Joe and Ian keep talking about "growing the network" and "giving a little to help out". If I'm an "employee", why would I help you grow your business? Why would I give a little? Why wouldn't I mail it in and get my check?

And why do they keep saying Rory and Mal are "rich"? You think they were making over 200k doing the pod? Wonder why they thought Joe was taking money off the top :jbhmm:
Rory & Mal aren’t broke. That’s Coli talk.

Episode 64 or whatever, Rory was already there, and the pod didn't really pop until well after mal came. That rant was a blip
it's funny joe fans running with the he did it on his own narrative now when I can't remember an episode without rory being there.

Only a bytch would bring up something petty like that. That mean he been wanting to say that shyt. No way they are friends again. I wouldn't even be mad if nikkas returned a favor and put his business out there.
He said that shyt because you can tell Joe probably still feels a type of way when Mal laughed in his face with jay when he told him “so what”

just got done listening and damn that was a lot to take in. i see both sides of this, but i thought joe could've went about it better but this is joe's personality so i'm not surprised he went at their necks.

i agree with joe for the most part. if rory is snooping around and asking a lot of questions then i can see why that would rub joe the wrong way. he was the one who probably got in mal's head about needing to get equity and ownership. the fact that joe went after rory more than mal makes me believe rory was stirring things up. this is just a case of people feeling like they're entitled to more, which might be true for rory and mal because we don't know the details of everything that goes on behind the scenes. seems like rory and mal were well compensated tho so they should've just been happy with what they have and build something else for them on the side.

joe could've went about this in a better way but it is what it is. seems like joe is done with rory and left the door open for mal, but mal might be done with joe.

The podcast was making noise tho. That drake rant took shyt to the next level
It didn't. If anything Joe just looked nuts as usual and I think he was doing an album run so people took it as promo.
Pod got popping once Mal got added and the weekend that Joe got into it with Migos. That's also when ES started to get popular (another show that Joe self-destructed). They went on a solid run that culminated with a Spotify contract and then had another good year, with constant touring.. Pandemic and then Joe trying to "negotiate" was what really started dooming them. Then, admittedly the other two did start getting lazy, but it's hard to get a word in edgewise, when Joe is crying about creators every two minutes.

nikkas hate Joe so much they don’t wanna admit it when he make sense

someone shoot me a link, i have to witness this mess :russ:

Idk y’all... Joe making a lot of points... :patrice:

joe with prep time is a tough out :wow:

Only halfway through but hard to really blame joe tbh

Listened to most of it :manny: Joe is generally nuts and we know this. To be honest I was shocked he didn't do this the first time they didn't show up.

I usually disagree with his stances on things:hubie:but he might be more on the right side of this one. Sounds like he made it abundantly clear through the years that the pod was his and that they were workers. They stuck around though. Also sounds like he offered them multiple opportunities to create some other shyt that would be theirs and they didn't bother. :hubie:If he was up front for years and they never really challenged him and stuck around what they felt was disrespectful...well.....:hubie:that's on you.

what if (IF)

the people you employ are not “artists”

for the sake of a counter argument, if Mal and Rory signed agreements to be on air talent, they aren’t “artists creating projects” they are hosts on a show. AJ and Free didn’t own equity in 106 and Park, Carson Daily didn’t own equity in TRL (yes I’m :flabbynsick:)

I think what gets lost in all of this is that from Joe’s eyes, HE is the one that “created” the show, has seen it through many iterations (Joe and Marissa, Joe and Rory, Joe Rory and Mal, JRM and Parks, JP Ice and Ish), and everyone else works for him. They aren’t “creators” but rather employed talent.

If I start a restaurant and front the money and leverage and negotiate the price for food and pay my friends to work there from day 1, my friends may “feel” like they are owners because they worked hard, but if I paid them as employees that’s all they are.

Not defending Joe because it seems like scumbag behavior, but rather just providing insight as to how business owners might see their business.

This is completely different than an artist writing their own music, recording it, and then signing a deal with a label to distribute it and then feeling bad when they signed a vulture deal. This sounds like Joe was the owner, he was the one negotiating deals, and busting it down for his employees. When his employees thought that they should have equity, it seems he’s like :camby:

I feel Joe Budden

These dudes want ownership of something Joe created.

I remember AK saying something and it resonated with me. Your employees will never care about the business as much as you do. You will do all the leg work and heavy lifting. Putting hours and hours in daily while your employees just clock out. All because you got a vision and you want this to work. You can tell who the worker bee nikkas and who are bosses. They don’t understand that. Also comes down to hiring the right people because in your head you wanna hire friends and family. Everybody got this thing in their head where they wanna get money with people they fukk with and love. Soon as your business start turning a profit is when the questions start coming up. It’s because they don’t see you as their boss, they still see as that friend or family member. In their head everything is 50/50 splits with the money. They don’t understand the overhead to operate the business daily or they don’t understand it take money to make money so if you ever wanna expand you gotta have the bread to do that or they don’t understand the rainy day fund for when your equipment broke or you got a leak in the ceiling or business slows down. It’s tough to understand unless you ever tried to start up a business. If a dude ever had his lawyers call me and want to audit my books. I’ll give em up no problem so you can see I been more than fair with you. But know once that phone call was made, our friendship is dead because you playing with my business. This is my livelihood. This how I feed my kids. I don’t play about that. It won’t be on no confrontational shyt. It will just be we got shyt to talk about, you go your way and I’ll go my way. It’s cool.

Joe went too far - they were clearly not friends at all. I feel like Joe probably spent the time making sure all legal loopholes where tied up. He basically said he was going to fire them on air if they showed up.

U just fukking saw it. All joe need is friends that know how to speak lol

Joe control all the convos on his pod and his friends play off him

This is actually true. Joe was the one always coming in with wild stories and statements. He would always say 'Am I the only one that's got a story about....' etc

The show won't just die with Rory and Mal but the friendship ending if it does is kinda sad.
