People in here comparing a fukking podcast to the most valuable NBA franchise in the league, and other people actually entertaining that comparison :mjlol: that’s how I know the wheels fell off logic like 50 pages ago

Joe is sweating his ass off to get even 20-30 million for this thing and some of yall think it’s the same as an NBA franchise :mjlol:

Who the fukk is listening to a Rory and Mal podcast?

I personally wouldn’t but I think you’d be surprised at what people would listen to, or how many people liked them or even interested enough because of all the fukkerry that came from this. Mal got tweeted at / jokingly recruited this morning by someone at barstool who is the producer of a podcast that’s more popular and generates far more revenue than Joe’s.

I’m not saying they’d team up and do a podcast off rip. I’m saying that there are a number of platforms that would talk business w/ them about creating content. That could mean a dozen different things. They both have interests outside of podcasting, and they’ve both expressed that podcasting isn’t really their end game.

I disagree. Joe isn’t complex or a record label. He’s their friend. If Savon bytched about money i doubt he’d be hurt or offended like this. If I’m your mans and you come to me about accounting, your telling me you don’t trust me. I don’t know how I’m supposed to keep moving with you that way. ESPECIALLY if I’ve bent over backwards to keep you solid.
And how should I react if you don’t want to show the books?

Quit. But it’s in my right to let my audience who i depend on for my livelihood to know what’s going on. (I don’t agree with a lot of the slick personal shyt Joe said). But i have no problem with him breaking down the business.

you're making it sound like equity is easily attainable. true equity (not some shares that get thrown around) is not easily attained at all.

like you said, it's reserved for employees who are deemed important. that is not a large group of people. and then the biggest/best equity packages are normally reserved for the most important employees. so even within that already small group, there's a huge difference between employees who get handed 10,000 stock options, and the most essential employees who get 60-75,000 restricted stock units that vest on a faster timeline.

and even those units pale in comparison to what the CEO receives.

then, when equity IS more attainable, it's usually awarded to compensate for the company paying at a lower scale than industry standard. so you're trading money upfront for (potentially) more money in the long-term. but you have to stay with that company 2-4 years to collect. and even THEN, if you leave you have to buy that stock from the company in order to keep it. they don't just give it to you.

equity is not thrown around. like everything else in corporate it is a negotiating point, and you get what you negotiate for yourself.

im saying their jobs as cohost were important and that they played a role in helping the podcast become successful. They did a better job than marrisa and rosenburg and helped keep the show going for years. Obviously they shouldnt eat like joe and would have to take a paycut or provide more content.

lol sounds like he finessed his way onto the podcast, then tried to finesse his way into ownership of the podcast lol
It sounds that way but I have a problem with Joe saying it. You acted like this dude was a friend for damn near a decade only to claim dude was just someone that leeched on to your shyt is foul. You can go back and listen to the first episodes with Rory and that was not the energy present back then.

Joe made it sound like Rory was some no name culture vulture that attached himself to Joe's multi million dollar podcast network, he did that shyt for free for years and Joe never acted like Rory wasn't welcomed.

Your point was poorly thought out and doesn’t make sense. Based on this episode, it appears it took him years to realize what Rory truly is, from his perspective. Why would he feel this way during the early episodes , when he didn’t know him well enough?

Joe also explained in this very episode that he can work with anyone despite their differences, so he very well may have continued to work with him because it’s good for business.

Yeah Rory may have worked for free but I’m sure he saw the potential. Joe is like a can’t miss personality. I heard this nygga on the radio back in the 2000s and knew he was made for this shyt.
