Gary: Nothing has changed regarding our feelings on the #1 player in the country in five-star defensive lineman Rashan Gary. Michigan is the heavy 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite and we're assuming will continue to pick up predictions as next Wednesday approaches

Michigan's current commitments feel really good about the Wolverines' chances with the five-star, and again, we're putting our chips behind his actions and not his words. A four-day unofficial visit to campus and every connection possible is pulling him to Ann Arbor right now.

The good news regarding his final visit is that it's to Clemson and not Alabama. He's never been to Tuscaloosa before, and the Tide are always going to be respected as a potential threat. Clemson has recruited him minimally over the last two months or so, and Gary has family down there. We believe those are the primary reasons for his visit. If he does sneak in an Alabama visit last second, there may be a pause for concern, but this recruitment is a complete 180 from past recruitments involving Michigan and Alabama as the Tide have barely been involved here for months.

DLS duo: As we've been reporting for around the last month, Michigan has been trending up for the pair of four-star teammates out of Concord (CA) De La Salle in jumbo athlete Boss Tagaloa and tight end Devin Asiasi.

Things are perhaps starting to look even better. Both prospects have become targets of the current Michigan commitments, one of which I recently caught up with to ask about the Wolverines' chances with.

"If Signing Day was today, they are both choosing Michigan," they said. "We're looking really good right now."

Commitments aren't always the best indicator for how a recruitment is trending, but at the same time they are more likely to have had direct communication with the players they're trying to recruit.

In talking with sources closer to the Michigan side of things, confidence is growing as well.

"(Michigan) is working some late magic on these two guys," they said.

When Michigan first started recruiting the two players, they knew they would not get the pair up for an unofficial and knew relatively early that their official visits would be after the season. There was always confidence that they would impress if they could get them to campus, but the concern is that more localized programs would be tough to beat because it'd be easier to develop relationships over a long-term period of time. At the very least, Michigan has easily overcome that and are now legitimate contenders for each player's signature on Wednesday.

Fuller: Got about the best intel I could get following Michigan's in-home visit with Top50 athlete Jordan Fuller heading into his decision on Feburary 1st, and it was about what I expected.

"Michigan gave it their all," they said. "They went all-in on him to sell the program and now it will be a waiting game to see."

While most will read into that and feel pessimistic, Michigan's angle is murky here simply because they went in-home first with Notre Dame and Ohio State following up.

100% of anybody's confidence in this race stems from where Fuller's recruitment was at the Army All-American game, where it was pretty clear that Ohio State held some sort of lead, maybe even a sizable one. The million dollar question is whether or not Michigan did enough on his official visit and in following up to convince him that Ann Arbor is the right place for him.

We'll continue to follow up with any intel heading towards next Monday, but he's been good at keeping things mostly close to the vest.

Allen: The recruitment of Nixa (MO) three-star tight end Chase Allen has potentially gotten interesting, as possibly all three of his finalists believe they will be receiving his commitment on Friday.

That being said, and I'm 100% confident about this, if Allen does choose Iowa State or Nebraska, it means that Michigan has to feel good about getting one or both of Nick Eubanks and Devin Asiasi. Allen was as good as a done deal following his official visit, and it's no coincidence that the Wolverines have recently picked up their pursuit of Eubanks in the last week.

Confidence actually seems to be really high on the Iowa State side of things, and on Thursday I talked to someone who backed that sentiment up to an extent.

"If there's a recruit out there who would choose Iowa State over Michigan and Nebraska," they said, "it would be Chase Allen. He's always had a soft spot for their program and their engineering program as well."

Mid-write update: I've put in a 247Sports Crystal Ball for Allen to the Cyclones.

Bits
- We will be more than surprised if Michael Onwenu does not sign with Michigan next Wednesday, and have felt that way even leading into last weekend's Michigan State visit. He will visit Oklahoma this weekend.

- The same goes for Lavert Hill. While we view Hill as someone who has what I call "surprise potential", I talked to multiple current players who believe he will sign with the Maize and Blue on Wednesday. He is expected to sign around 9 AM.

- Michigan appears to have a sizable lead for Rockford (MI) kicker Quinn Nordin, who reportedly hosted Art Briles and a Baylor assistant this week. USC may be a factor because of Nordin's bond with John Baxter, but we expect him to stay closer to home. Unbelievable that drama exists in the announcement for a kicker, but here we are.

- Michigan is no longer a factor for 2016 four-star linebacker Jonathan Jones and we fully expect him to sign with Notre Dame next weekend. After the commitments of Elysee Mbem-Bosse and Joshua Uche, Michigan essentially moved on as spaces became tight. Jones will be a great pickup for the Irish.

- Keyshawn Young may have been squeezed out of Michigan's class, as the Crystal Balls continue to pile up for Louisville. Michigan asked him to hold off on committing earlier in the process, and he may end up elsewhere because of it.

- We aren't optimistic on the chances former commitment Victor Viramontes reaffirms a pledge to the Wolverines on NSD. In fact, we were explicitly told that Tim Drevno's in-home with Viramontes was more of a "courtesy visit" than anything else.

- Things remain foggy as far as Michigan's situation with four-star wide receiver Nate Johnson. Nothing really new to report there, but we could easily see him elsewhere with the Eddie McDoom commitment yesterday.

- Three-star wide receiver Donald Stewart informed me on Wednesday that he doesn't know when he will make his decision. We're still expecting Michigan unless they don't believe they have the room. Stanford would be the choice otherwise.

- Michigan still looks pretty good for four-star defensive end Connor Murphy, although there have been rumors regarding his grades and it may be worth keeping an eye on. That's the only thing preventing a Crystal Ball prediction on my end.

- My Crystal Ball is on Texas for three-star defensive back Chris Brown. I have no CB choice out for Dontavious Jackson and am not expecting to put one in for him. We're confident that Michigan is out for both prospects and more so with Jackson.

Add Brian Cole to the Michigan bust list
Kentucky, Pitt, Arizona and Arizona State are among the programs Cole is reported to be looking at or considering at this point, and a visit to Kentucky is likely sometime within the next few weeks, Wolverine247 also confirmed.

The former Saginaw (MI) Heritage star was the #1 ranked player in the state for the class of 2015 and committed to Michigan under Brady Hoke over Michigan State, Ohio State and a host of others. Cole saw time in three separate games this season, with one coming at wide receiver and two coming on special teams.
