I am pretty disgusted at our program's lack of OpSec. Rival trolls really did have this story months, years in advance. Buckeye Bill Greene had Signgate weeks in advance. So why should any of us be delicate today?
Sherrone Stuff
Clearly this affair was long-term because the first I heard of it was August 2024, just before Sherrone's debut as HC. It came from a rival troll. Asked around, no it's not true.
This happened four times. Twice in August on the eve of the szn, and twice in OSU week. All four times the provenance of the story was a rival troll and the first three times it was dismissed as such, out of hand.
It was always easy to dismiss because of the timing and because the details kept changing to be more and more insane. Obviously now we know that the real Sherrone actually is crazy, so who knows.
Thankfully, the real affair was with a 32-year-old adult. These were the different versions:
1. 16-year-old
2. Sex tape but Sherrone is wearing a shirt because he's self-conscious about his body
3. pregnant, keeping it
4. pregnant, abortion
Obviously you're not gonna post any of that. It's lurid, it's libel, etc. Where is the OpSec? This is a disgrace.
I don't know which of those is totally false or partially true and I don't care. The underlying affair was real, it popped, and Sherrone set off a nuke.
Let me ask a real question. This is not a hint, I really want to know. Couldn't we have forced him to resign? Did we have to do this so publicly and set off the crime stuff?
Coaching Search
Kalen DeBoer is Plan A. That is no secret. There is an extremely tasty salary ballpark for him -- I don't know who authored it, Warde or regent or agent or GRASSO, but money talks.
The most important guy on the team would be happy with DeBoer.
I don't want to overpromise on timeline. There is a rumor from the SEC side that Bama would not allow him to coach the CFP, but that is not my info.
Dillingham is also not my info, I can claim nothing on him.
Jedd Fisch is a very solid backup IMO.
Biff, no, obviously not.
AD
I think the regents are meeting with Warde today but cannot confirm.
Strictly from a football perspective, we do not want him fired in the next 72 hours or whatever people are gunning for, at least if you agree with me that KDB is the best choice.
Broadly, you want and need a permanent AD making the football hire.
Specifically, there is a preexisting Warde/KDB connection. If Warde is still in place it would make the hire of KDB more likely. That's my opinion, and I did get a text to the contrary, that KDB would come without Warde. But who would hire him in that scenario? Is that possible to pull off? Let's not chance it, let's revisit Warde in the spring.
