Against Wagner Prado... who is a striker [and only a blue belt in BJJ]. Also, I'm pretty sure a gator roll is primarily a BJJ technique [I could be wrong].

Where did I say [or hint at] that wrestling is only double leg takedowns?

Davis got his wrestling shut down by Rashad and had trouble taking down Lil Nog.

gator roll is wrestling. all chael does is double leg takedowns, man his wrestling is good, but people overrate it, he's been snuffed by half all his opponents, people just think he's amazing because he mounted an injured silva who doesnt do wrestling, but yet he couldnt td a healthy bisping for the life of him.

Rashad is a freaking big ten wrestler no shyt Davis had problems haha. the Davis of today is not the Davis that fought Rashad. Rashad had waaaay more confidence, he's been in the game for awhile. but Davis in his last 2 fights, despite his opponents, technically looked very very sharp and refined.

They threw him to Rashad too early imo. Present day he'd give Rashad some shyt, it would be close imo. IMO!

Phil has looked incredible when he's in a spot under the radar but he seemed to freeze when he got the big shot against Rashad and he looked a bit apprehensive but was still dominant against Lil Nog.

I don't how much better he'd fare against Rashad now considering his only bouts since then have been the Prado ones.

That's why I don't mind the Forrest matchup too much, I think its a good test to see if he can step up against a name opponent.

His finishes against Gustafsson and Boetsch were :ohlawd:

I think that Chael's wrestling is [a bit] overrated as well. Also, Bisping's defensive wrestling is severely overlooked by many.

Phil Davis had a much better collegiate wrestling career than Rashad. And, they fought this year! A second fight right now would be identical.

Overall, Phil is a good wrestler [not as good as some posters believe] with excellent strength and submissions.

Agree with the bolded.

Phil didn't freeze under the spot light with Rashad. He simply got beat by a better fighter. Also, he wasn't dominant against Lil Nog. He definitely won, but it wasn't a dominant performance.

He's going to beat Forrest with ease though. Forrest is :flabbynsick:

He was undefeated up until his Rashad fight. He froze, he even said so himself. the young pup got in there with a namer and froze.

Jones didn't.

I think Phil might actually have better wrestling than Jones. Jones has better TD, but in actual grapple, I think Phil would mangle him.

Like I said, Rashad was and is still the superior fighter. That is why he won.

What @ the bolded?

Phil is not a better wrestler than Jones :heh: Jones is arguably the best wrestler in the UFC, while Davis is not the best wrestler in his division.

:pachaha: @ Davis mangling Jones.

First off, I don't need no torrent open breh. I have a good amount of MMA knowledge.

The better question is: When hasn't Jones displayed superior wrestling? He has out-grappled and out-wrestled every fighter he has faced:

- Bader [elite collegiate wrestler]

- Hamill [great collegiate wrestler]

- Machida [excellent grappler with top-notch take-down defense and BJJ] (Jones was the first and only person to sub Machida)

- Rampage (One of the best wrestlers in the LHW division, especially his defensive wrestling. Excellent defensive BJJ as well.) [Jones out-wrestled and subbed Rampage. He was one of only two people to ever sub Rampage, the other sub happened over a decade ago)

- Vitor Belfort (another really good grappler, a BJJ black belt and ADCC bronze medalist) [Again, Jones was one of only two people to ever sub Belfort]

So tell me again, how has he not displayed 'grade A wrestling'. Don't give me no 'technical' wrestling BS. The fact is that Jones out-wrestled all of the aforementioned fighters, most of them with absolute ease. He also out-wrestled Rashad in the few grappling exchanges they had.

watttt? He didn't even grapple the first 2. He knocked them down and then GNP

Machida was not out wrestled per sa, Machida was not on his back, dude just got choked out in the stand up lol

Rampage did get mangled tho.

Vitor? Vitor mangled him wtf. Almost broke dudes arm, he was being controlled but he revered it and finished. He's a great finisher.

Im a bigger Jones fan than Davis, but I think in a wrestling match Phil would take him.

In an MMA match Jones GNP Davis so hard his pink mouthpiece would turn to red. Homie would probably start crying.

Jones didn't knock them down, he took both of them down. Did you even watch those fights? Both of the fights had their fair share of grappling.

Machida did get out-wrestled (out-grappled for that matter), he got taken down by Jones [against the cage and then he ate some elbows] and later in the fight subbed.

:heh: @ Belfort mangling Jones. He had one good moment in the fight, the sub attempt. What fight were you watching breh? Belfort was on the losing end of all the grappling exchanges.

This ain't wrestling breh. Whether or not he can beat Jones in a wrestling match is completely irrelevant.

fukk Jones. Phil Davis is that n!gga though, very cool, laid back and humble dude. He a joker too:

it is when that's what I was talking about all along. I don't think Davis can beat Jones in the UFC, I'm not fukking crazzy.

As for the matches, I've seen them all, but I don't remember them play for play, just the highlights and I don't remember Machida working off his back or Bader getting taken down, I remember Bader getting knocked down, as in KO then eating some elbows, same with Hamil. I remember Machida getting mangled against the cage, but not working off his back tho. I actually no, I take that back, there was one moment when he ate an elbow from his back that cut him, but they got stood up.

I agree, Davis is a funny dude, he be talkin about kittens and shyt, he funny as hell.

Wrestling in MMA is a lot different than amateur wrestling. Just look at GSP vs Kos 1 and 2, and Jones vs. Bader to name a few.

Jones probably has the best MMA wrestling in the business...except for maybe DC. His clinch work is :ohlawd:
