There is no rhyme or reason to how the UFC pushes their fighters. They're about the kool-aid and the money. If they want to build up Nate Diaz, they certainly can. Dana just forgives all past fukk ups. "Nate isn't the most professional, but he is the real deal. He's always had p4p potential, and I think he's finally put it all together. He's got the most finishes in Zuffa UFC history! Like he said, its kill or be killed. I think he's about to go on a kill streak. Bottom line, he'll give 110% in the cage. I guarantee fans get their moneys worth!" And even if Diaz fukks up, Dana just does his damage control like he always does anyway.

Voila, all a sudden Diaz is the face of the UFC. Imperfect p4p badazz that does whatever he wants. What goes from here is up to Diaz. He keeps putting on good fights, the people will keep drinking the kool-aid.

And Diaz main events are mostly if not all FS1. But he just main evented a PPV and derailed the McGregor train. Perfect time to convert Diaz into a PPV star.

Hopefully Diaz can get another big fight next. I'll lowkey be disappointed that he gets an instant title shot at 170 or 155 (like Connor might have), but only because the shyt don't make any sense. Beat McGregor and get a shot at 155/170. Huh? But that's the point, the UFC just be doing unwarranted shyt like that all the time. I don't agree with it, but If Diaz wants a piece of that action at the height of his popularity, then he should get it.
Nawl, they won't make Nate the face of the UFC and I think we all know why :mjpls:

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Very accurate strikes but obviously you don't read well. No is saying that Nate didn't land well in 1st round. The entire point was Connor was throwing his hardest shots at Nate and Nate ate em like they didn't even hurt. Meanwhile Nate's jus kept throwing his 2 piece steady as always.

This the probably when trying 2 talk wit sum of y'all. Your so quick to argue and throw stats at ppl that u don't even read and fully understand the post.

Never in my post did I say Nate wasn't landing or wasn't rolling with the punches or that he his reach wasn't great. It was all about how Connor messed himself up and nate took advantage of it for the win.

But if u need to start counting punches and go look up stats to help analyze a pretty str8 forward fight. More power to you, enjoy.

"Harder" is arbitrary. We can't measure that.

But we see that Nate rolled with most of those shots. It makes them less hard.

We also saw that Conor walks in jabs and hooks w/o rolling. It makes them hurt more.

So we don't know who's punches were "harder". But we do the the output and connections were about the same.

The original point was that the 1st round was closed than you said it was. Which I said if you watched it again you would see that. I just through the data up to back me up.

New UFC champ Miesha Tate: Baby-minded Rousey 'doesn't sound very motivated'

By MMAjunkie Staff March 8, 2016 9:30 am

The first shot has been fired in the trilogy grudge match between Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey, and it has come from the new champion.

Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) this past Saturday put Holly Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) to sleep with a rear-naked choke in a fifth-round comeback to win the women’s bantamweight title in the UFC 196 co-main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The win set Tate up for a third fight against former champ Ronda Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) later this year. Rousey submitted Tate with a first-round armbar in 2012 to take her Strikeforce title. Then in late 2013, she submitted her a second time to defend her UFC belt. But this past November, Rousey was knocked out by Holm at UFC 193 and lost her championship in a shocking upset.

On Monday, after telling the “TMZ Sports” syndicated TV show that she was “on top of the world” following her long-awaited title win, Tate said she can’t be sure how soon she’ll fight Rousey for the third time – this time as champion.

“I don’t even know what she’s thinking right now,” Tate told the show. “It seems like her motivation to stick around was to have Travis Browne’s babies, so I don’t know. … That doesn’t sound like a very motivated comeback kind of a fighter in my opinion. Every time I’ve ever lost, my motivation is to get back up on the horse and fight someone again and work my way back to the top.”

This past month, Rousey told host Ellen DeGeneres that she briefly considered suicide after she lost to Holm in Australia before seeing her boyfriend, UFC heavyweight Travis Browne, and realizing she wanted to have children with him.

Prior to UFC 196, UFC President Dana White said the Tate-Holm winner would fight Rousey in a rematch, and he stuck to that plan after the event.

If Tate one day fights Holm again, though, it sounds like it will be a lot different of a rivalry than the one she has with Rousey – which falls under heated at best, and hated at worst.

“(My boyfriend) Bryan (Caraway) and her husband are really good friends, too,” Tate said. “If they lived here, we’d probably be (close). They’re just so nice, just so championship material. … I really respect that woman. She’s amazing. Hopefully she’ll get the message that I’m thankful she stepped in there. She could’ve waited for that fight with Ronda, but she said, ‘No, I want to be an active champion,’ and she has my respect.”

Conor vs Aldo 2 instead. Frankie is good but he doesn't bring the numbers. These tent pole events need something to draw out the casuals.

I think that's the fight at UFC 200 for a number of reasons. Stylistically Aldo is an easier fight for Conor than Edgar

Did ya'll peep how greasy Dana was talking bout Holm yesterday? Can't stand this dude, he basically talking like her career is over, he can't wait for Ronda to get the strap back.

Dana White: Holly Holm's management to blame for Miesha Tate defeat

UFC president Dana White believes Holly Holm was let down by her management overher loss to Miesha Tate at UFC 196. The defeat cost Holm her bantamweight title and a lucrative rematch with Ronda Rousey, who she beat in November last year. White says the UFC now favor a fight between Tate and Rousey.

White says Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, lost his fighter prestige and money by not including her in talks about the Tate fight.

“The sad part about that is, listen, he’s an old boxing guy who thinks he’s smart, and he’s not,” White told ESPN’s Russillo & Kanell. “It’s one of those things. I feel bad about it. I feel bad for Holly. I don’t know if Holly really knows what she lost. I think she has so much faith in the people that surround her, she feels like, ‘Well, they got me this far.’

“We had this meeting, and Holly wasn’t even in it. Holly, that’s your life. You should be in that meeting. Don’t leave it to these people. Anyway, Holly made a lot of money. She accomplished great things, she beat Ronda Rousey. But it could have been so much bigger for her, and the sad part is, I don’t think she even knows it.”

Holm had said before UFC196 that she wasn’t willing to wait for a rematch with Rousey, who wanted to hold out until after the summer to fight again. And Fresquez told ESPN that Holm’s fight with Tate was a “team decision”.

“Of course, she knows,” Fresquez said. “It was a team decision, and Holly is the boss. She wanted to fight, and she got her wish. I think she’ll fight Miesha or Ronda next. That’s my personal feeling, but who knows what the UFC has cooking? Holly was dominant in that fight against Miesha except for the second and fifth round. She paid for it. Hat’s off to Miesha for capitalizing.

“What happens next is the UFC’s decision. All I can speak to are Holly’s wishes. Holly wants to fight Miesha right away. She wants to fight Ronda Rousey. Even with the title, a fight between Miesha and Rousey doesn’t have the glamour a fight with Holly and Ronda does. Yeah, Holly lost. She made a mistake, but she’ll learn from it. Everyone saw she’s a warrior.”

The last six months have seen UFC’s two biggest stars, Rousey and Conor McGregor lose. But White said he wasn’t worried those defeats would hit UFC’s popularity.

“There’s always somebody super talented coming down the pipeline, man,” he said. “It’s always been that way, and it will always be that way.”

Rafael dos Anjos admits he lost his ‘payday,’ but open to Robbie Lawler superfight at UFC 200
By Shaun Al-Shatti @shaunalshatti on Mar 9, 2016, 9:00a 135

Perhaps the biggest loser from the madness of UFC 196, at least in a financial sense, is someone who didn't fight at all.

UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos lost his golden ticket to the Conor McGregor show when he dropped out with a broken foot less than two weeks before the event. And after seeing his replacement, Nate Diaz, shatter the illusion of the unbeatable Irishman, dos Anjos' takeaways are twofold: first, that his big payday is likely gone for good, and second, that he could've done far worse things to McGregor had he not gotten injured.

"I've been around the game for a long time, 12 years, and I never cancelled any fight due to injury," dos Anjos said Monday on The MMA Hour. "I always show up, but unfortunately for this fight, I broke my foot, man. A lot of people are making fun of it, and I don't like to make fun of people's injuries. I think we are fighters, so everybody is going to get injured one day. So, unfortunately I lost my payday, but I think everything is God's plan for my life. I believe in that.

"But man, what went through my mind: I fought Nate Diaz already, and I knew, Conor, he's a good fighter, but I think I can put a worse beating on him, for sure."

Despite entering UFC 196 on short notice, Diaz pulled off the performance of his life, submitting McGregor with a second-round rear-naked choke to cut short McGregor's goals of multi-divisional dominance.

McGregor is now expected to drop back down to featherweight, where he remains the reigning UFC champion. The move means a potential superfight against dos Anjos is at least a few wins away, if not outright dead in the water.

Win or lose, dos Anjos knows the blockbuster fight would have led to biggest paycheck of his career, however he isn't stressing about the missed opportunity.

"It would be good, everybody likes money, but I think money is not the most important (thing) for me," dos Anjos said. "I'm really happy with how much I make, and I have everything in my life. If one day, he fights, he makes good wins and he's trying to fight for the title, I will be there. But, you know, life is not all about money.

"I don't need to fight him to change my life," dos Anjos added. "I think my life will keep on going, and I think I have a lot more challenges in my weight division. I think he doesn't deserve a fight at 155 pounds. He was just submitted by the No. 5 ranked (fighter) with 10 days' notice."

For now, dos Anjos' focus remains on getting healthy. His foot is currently in a cast, and while he is hoping to be recovered and back to training within the next few months, dos Anjos acknowledged that it has been impossible to ignore the vocal contingent of McGregor fans who incessantly accuse him on social media of exaggerating his injury.

"It's hard, but man, they're all haters," dos Anjos said. "I'm not giving anything for the haters. There's always going to be people there talking crap, but I have my fans who believe in me. And man, who is this guy for me to be afraid of him? I've beaten better guys before. Man, I don't fear nobody but God. But this guy, it's been hard because I'm very active and I'm [peaking] right now, so I'm ready to fight right now but I have my foot injury. So I have a lot of energy, I want to do stuff, but I can't yet. But it's fine. I'm going to be back in four or five weeks. I'm up for UFC 200."

Even with McGregor out of the picture, dos Anjos has plenty of options for his next lightweight title defense. Eddie Alvarez and the winner of April 16's bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov are the two biggest candidates, in which case dos Anjos said he'd like a chance at vengeance against Nurmagomedov, preferably on July 9 at UFC 200.

But dos Anjos also took a page out of McGregor's book, offering to move up a division and challenge UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in a champion vs. champion superfight at the seminal event.

"I don't know the UFC's plans, but I'm here, man," dos Anjos said. "I'm here to fight anybody. I'll fight welterweight too, if they need."

"I respect Robbie Lawler, but if UFC needs somebody to fight for the welterweight (title), I would fight."

Dana doesn't like Winklejohn's camp he stays trying to throw shade at them any chance he can get. Robbie Lawler still has Tyrone Woodley and Carlos Condut problems...

Idk way too many matches for UFC to make and some good fighters are gonna be on the shelf for a minute because they all feel like they are that contender.

That's the weird thing, Holly trains wit Jackson's and winkeljohn but is still using her old boxing manager and didn't hire a new Mma manager more familiar to dealing with dana and Jackson's.

Obviously Ronda is the money fight, u take a few months off do sum press and media and wait to cash that chq again, u beat Ronda again then u go fight nobody else the casual public don't care about. But instead u fought hard fighting o fight rite away and lost that strap and big money bout.

He really is fukking c*nt. And best believe that Holly has faced disappointments in her life and bounced back

This vid she is training rear naked choke defense. This is what fighting is all about learning from your mistakes and improving. Martial artists grow in their craft from day to day. She even posts a pic of her getting choked out........if that doesn't take mental toughness I don't know what does. Dana can eat a dikk. War Holly
