Stipe got punched so hard, he thought it was a kick. These dudes are more aware of the brain damage and the need for recovery than before, so I'm wondering if that's playing a role in his decision. Schaub said Robbie's pulled out of the Cerrone fight because his head still isn't straight after the KO also. These cats take a bad shot and they don't get their chin back for extended time.

cerrone said they both signed the bout agreement though. :dwillhuh: either his head got rung in training or something is amiss

My completely speculative guess is that he held off sparring to get his head right and didn't pick up until after he signed the fight. He was probably fine training, but as soon as he started taking hits the chin was reeling. I've heard stories from Schaub and Rogan about fighters who knew there was something wrong (Rogan says Forrest was getting dropped consistently before he even got into the Anderson murder fight, but because of how major the fight was he didn't pull out). Plus we've seen what happens when cats rush back from bad KO's; I couldn't picture Chad Mendes getting dropped by Franky let alone KO'ed before it actually happened for example.

was that rushing back though? Or was a case now that his chin has been cracked he's more knockout prone ala Chuck. And remember the 3rd Maynard fight? Edgar isn't Dominick cruz

Stipe doesn't just train full time he is also a fire fighter maybe that also had something to do with it...? :manny: isn't he also engaged? Maybe he wants to focus on getting married :manny:

But Dana said he was calling his phone constantly trying to get a fight. He signed an agreement and all the sudden pulls out with no explanation?
