Not set in stone yet, but that is what the UFC wants to do
UFC on FOX 7 targeted for Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez lightweight title fight - MMA Fighting

I think cats are sleeping on Melendez. I still favor Ben if they fight, but Melendez isn't an easy fight for any LW. I don't see Ben being able to finish him and he has better wrestling than Diaz and his striking has improved over the years. Will probably be a closer fight than the Nate one.

Cormeir training with Segal now too

Speaking for myself I'm for sure not sleeping on Gil. I just don't see how he keeps Benson off of him. Gil has heart and an excellent skill set but keeping a massive LW with a ridiculous gas tank from imposing his will be a but too much to ask I fear

Damn I'm tired of Steven Segal

I'm not saying he'll win but I'm liking his chances more than anyone in the LHW division has to offer. DC and Anderson Silva. Who else even can even get in a fart's smelling distance to Bones?

I'm in the same boat. I think he has a good shot. Jones likely won't be throwing him around like he does with to wrestlers. That reach wouldn't be as much in his favor as usual either because those cheap front kicks to the knee would likely get him taken down. I'd like to see them fight for sure.

If DC doesn't I don't see Bones losing (officially) until he goes up to HW

Agree 1000% DC has a great shot too, which will nuetralize Bones' reach as well. DC in the clinch might be more dangerous than Jones is in the clinch, and thats saying quite a bit.

With all that said, I still think Jon Jones will kill Cormier. But it'll be a great fight to watch.

i dont know i think seeing cormier as the only legit threat against bones is the common consensus these days.. and from what i seen he could throw jones in the clinch still at 205 but i could also see him getting gassed if jones is elusive but then from what i seen from jones he could def get taken into deep water by husky ass cormier

If it's DC first fight at 205 I gotta think advantage Bones. He will drag him deep into championship rounds and catch him with a sub.

Oh Yeah!

Two of the biggest names in Strikeforce history will make their move to the UFC on Saturday, April 20, with FOX airing both bouts live from San Jose.

In the main event, UFC lightweight boss "Smooth" Benson Henderson will defend his belt for the third time when he takes on Strikeforce's last 155-pound titlist, Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez, in a clash of champions the entire MMA world has been waiting for.

Plus, Daniel Cormier, the Strikeforce Grand Prix heavyweight tournament winner, will return to action quickly after his win over Dion Staring last Saturday to battle two-time heavyweight champ
Frank Mir in a long-anticipated showdown.
