I don't expect the rankings to be the definitive way someone gets a title shot, the UFC is a business and more often than not title shots are due to timing and marketability. If the #2 ranked fighter is injured or not that marketable, I'm sure the #3 or #5 guy can still grab a title shot.

Bellator last night was okay, with the Rickels/Woodard fight being fun. Didn't see anybody though that has me thinking Chandler should be worried.

Why is the UFC suppressing Phil Davis for.......

He shouldn't be fighting people like "Wagner Prado" and "Vinny Magu" whatever his name is, he manhandled Gustaffson, and only has lost to Rashad.

At the least, he should be fighting Rua, or Machida, or even Bader not fukking nobodies.

How is Gustaffson ahead of him, when he beat him.

The UFC is a joke sometimes. That's why Strikeforce always had the better fights.....

Phil is on a totally different level than Gus. He simply isnt as good as everyone makes it seem. @ this MMAmath that youre using. Gus has more quality wins as well.

Vinny doesnt have that great of a record, but Phil doesnt either. Its obviously better than Vinny's because of his time outside the UFC, but stylistically this is a good fight. Phil needs another decent win in order to solidify himself. They pushed him too hard into the Rashad fight and i think his confidence suffered.

Simply put the average fan doesn't like Phil Davis. He didn't take off with the fans. They think he's boring and don't want to pay to see him.

His fight with Lil Nog was one of the worst fights ever and nobody got excited the first time he was supposed to fight Rashad. There was zero buzz. When he fought him on Fox there wasn't much excitement. They're trying to build him up again because at the end of the day if he's on PPV people have to want to pay for it.

This fight benefits only one person, and that's Vinny. The UFC needs to work on being better organized.

Bottom line, they're trying to turn Phil into a gatekeeper, and he's way to young to be a gatekeeper.

@ Phil being top 5..Over who? Fact is, this dude has potential but has no idea how to utilize it. Phil is NOT an exciting fighter, and he hasnt gotten that many opportunities because he wont be able to hang with the big dogs at 205, his wrestling is elite, but his striking is subpar. Dude is awkward as fukk on his feet. I dont even know why im arguing with you as a matter a fact.
Maybe one day youll be able to discuss MMA without sounding like a fukkboy.
