Hmm. A couple days ago Dana said Jones still has to go in for an MRI. I'll wait and see if Dana confirms it because Gus/Machida would seem like a no-brainer for UFC's Fox Sports debut show.
With that said, I still think Jones will get him down eventually and get a GnP stoppage. Gus has a 76.5" reach which will be the longest reach Jones has faced since Brandon Vera (78"), so Gus *might* find some success early, but Jones is still too big and his wrestling is something Gus hasn't seen thus far.
Hopefully, Jon moves up to HW after this fight
No takedown defense? UFC.com has his TDD listed at 84%. And the Davis fight happened three years ago in Gus' second fight in the UFC - he still was able to stuff 4/5 TD attempts from Phil before getting subbed. Also, after that fight he switched camps in order to train with Davis full-time to sharpen up his wrestling, and he's improved immensely. Hamill is a decent wrestler and he wasn't able to take Alex down at all.Sorry but Gustaffson has zero change against Jones. He'll get taken down, gnp and bloodied up wit elbows so quick, ppl will be asking for their money back. Not sure if you've actually watched any Gustaffson fights, but he has no take down defense. THe best wrestler he faced Phil Davis, beat em n took him down no problem.
Outside of Phil davis, who has gust faced that is a dominate wrestler to say he has good take down defense, Rua, Thiago Silva, old man Matyushenko, or a 185 pd Hamil? I can see Jones smothering Gust right off the bell much like he did Sonnen, not even give Gust a change to setup a kick or strike.
