Can't fault Phil for getting vocal on trying to talk his way approach a title shot since that's the way to do it with Dana, even if his striking is still :scusthov: for someone as athletic as he is.

He's one of my all time faves but. ..

I don't like how Chuck Liddell keeps dismissively saying he'd have just walked thru all of Jon's punches and knocked him out in his prime. Jones is smart, he wouldn't be punching at Chuck. Chuck never bothered to check or defend leg kicks and would be eating them from all angles and eventually put on his back where he'd be hellbowed mercilessly.

I dont even like the idea of a dude thats been immortalized for basically being the right guy, at the right time, with the right style/matchmaking, passing judgement on the champion today who has far surpassed him..I dont know why hackleman and liddell feel the need to go on record talking slick it just makes them look envious

Lets not play revisionist history "top notch" for that era I suppose but in reality debatable, a byproduct of evolution..But that is beside the point the fact his by hook or crook all his opponents bar the one in japan were stylistically favorable :yeshrug: Which is why any stones thrown @ bones made by anyone not named anderson/royce is misjudged. I mean monsoon? randleman? :patrice: sobral? :ld: vernon white? :russ: jeremy horn? :beli: yeah they were stalwarts (post dark ages ) but were they champ material? or mostly known for something else ie appearance or go to submission move. Then there is the ortiz's and coutures, who achieved success but were never known for striking

I will give him his due for his TDD but the LHW division was devoid of anyone with a lick of striking so with the reality of never having to worry about ur chin being checked the skinny for training camp was quite obvious TDD TDD TDD. You think its a coincidence he lost to rampage even at the height of his prime? :mjpls:

who chuck? what he say :pachaha: around that time I just remember cacs around the world saying rashad wasnt worthy of the honor. If chuck talked shyt it was after the fact or to sell the fight. If memory serves me the fight only came about cuz liddell had just beaten a bum parading around as wanderlai and forrest was champ. So thinking liddell would vernon white rashad they made the match only rashad forgot to tell the ufc he had a hitter quitter

The UFC can't catch a break :snoop:

Ariel Helwani dropped the news on UFC Tonight, that the champ has been cleared by his doctor to start training on his repaired shoulder again, but lingering problems with his left hand are going to keep him shelved for a while. Add in that the UFC is working to line him up with the TUF Latin America coaching gig opposite Fabricio Werdum and it's highly unlikely that we'll be seeing Velasquez back in the octagon before next year.

Update: Cain Velasquez possibly out until 2015 - Bloody Elbow
