Spike TV today announced that Bellator MMA’s top two executives have parted ways with the company.

Bjorn Rebney, Bellator’s founder, chairman and CEO, as well as company president and COO Tim Danaher, have the left company, effective immediately.

A reason for their departures wasn’t given.

Although recent reports have suggested former Strikefoce president and ex-UFC executive Scott Coker could take over Rebney’s position, today’s announcement stated no replacements have been named at this time.

“It is with bittersweet emotions that I announce that I am leaving the company I founded,” Rebney stated in today’s release. “I have great pride in having turned my vision into reality, a thriving business with television distribution to over 140 countries around the world, a partnership with one of the world’s largest entertainment giants and wide array of sponsors, partners and strategic allies all over the globe.

“This has been a wonderful eight plus years of creation, development and success. I will miss the courageous, strong and dedicated fighters I have had the pleasure of promoting, and equally, I will miss the incredibly hard working, remarkable team that has become a family for me over the years. Viacom and Tim and I differed in our views of the right strategic direction for Bellator, but Tim and I both wish them well.”

“I feel very privileged and honored to have been one of the guiding forces for developing Bellator into the largest MMA tournament based organization in the world,” Danaher stated. “I’ve made tremendous life-long friends and feel blessed to have worked with such talented and dedicated people.”

Spike TV President Kevin Kay offered his thanks to both executives.

“I would like to thank Bjorn and Tim on behalf of Spike and Viacom for their dedication and hard work building Bellator from the ground up,” Kay said. “They worked tirelessly in getting Bellator to where it is today. They were great partners to work with and we wish them all the best.”

Build a company from grass roots and not make any traction after x amount of years then accept the first offer you get from a media giant only to get fired by them :snoop: All those shady contract dealings were a PR nightmare glad I never have to see that snake on the web again

Bellator has some good talent, more than just 2 LHWs and Dantas. Their LHW division is trash , which two LHWs are you talking about?

Dantas, Curran, Straus, Patricio Freire, Alvarez, Chandler, Brooks, Lima, Schlemenko, Volkov and Minakov are all solid fighters (and potential contenders).

The above-mentioned fighters are (for the most part) pretty high level talent (or have the potential to be high level talent).

I remember Jordan Breen saying Bjorn and the Viacom guys weren't getting along, so I guess this news isn't too surprising. Interesting that Coker is supposed to be coming in, I figured he would just want to chill with the money he got from selling Strikeforce. I wonder if they will keep the tourney format, since it seems like they keep making changes to it all the time.

Thoughts on the game? Pros and cons?

Gameplay is much better then the demo. Weight classes have certain speed and feel. You will notice a difference playing as a fw and a hw. I like the striking. Much more realistic then undisputed. Clinch and ground game is cool too. I still have to master blocking transitions and transitioning off my back. Cons- I hate TD. Really silly. Every has the same weird Kurt Angle slam, even guys like Silva who would never take anyone down like that in real life. And the animations/ of the other TD's are just slow in my opinion. Don't expect any Sonnen explosive power doubles. Online needs work too. The servers are great in terms on connectivity but it things missing like seeing your opponents selection(and record to see if hes good/bad, if hes a rage quiter, etc) Also, EA decided to group multiple weight classes up while you go online. So say if you pick someone like Dobson, you can face someone like Aldo or Mcgregor whos of course much bigger. And the game for some reason randomly chooses a weight class different then the one you went into. I was forever trying to play online at 170 and they keep bringing up HW. All in all, I like it. Great foundation. The next edition they will fix whats wrong and add more features
