I think what everyone is forgetting is the UFC is in the entertainment business. Not loyalty business, not grappling competition but entertainment. How entertaining is it to have Benson who at 1 point went 4 years without finishing a fight, walking out to church music, giving very minimal interviews or online social commentary to add hype to his fights.

If your not knocking dudes out, breaking arms, or hypeing/promoting your fights then you are expendable. Just like in all the other major spots, NFL forget about the running game, ppl want big throws big catches and high scores. NBA 3 pt shoots everywhere, forget about the boring slow big men. NHL just did a 3 on 3 all star game.

UFC is in the same boat, trying to compete for the audiences attention, and Bendo I luv ya as a fighter but your not that exciting of a fighter to watch. You need guys like Pettis and Edgar to market your fights and make you exciting to watch. Since hes been out of the 155lb division has he been missed? Are we sitting here saying we gotta see a RDS vs Bendo rematch. Nope, and now what salary do you think Bendo is asking for, what he would get paid prolly could pay for 10 Sage's.

Thats why there is no union in MMA or UFC, the old, past prime fighters wouldn't want to give up their future earnings for the better of the sport and the young fighters. Like in NBA, if there was no cap or union Lebron or Curry could ask and get 50m a year and would be worth it based on marketing they bring. But when you got lower tier players that need to make a living you gotta take less for the greater good of the other athletes. U think a Diaz brother will take less money so a youngin on his 2nd fight can make a decent wage......:russ:
Only thing I ever saw Benson get real headlines for was fighting with a toothpick, that says it all :mjlol:

If I were Overeem I would goto Bellator and be king. No Usada testing, freakshow can opponents, throw some kickboxing bouts in there too...,sponsors.

Sure, he could very possibly win the UFC belt but how long would he keep it? and then he would probably be done

UFC on FOX 18 main eventer's Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader earn $15k each from the Athlete Outfitting program while veterans Ben Rothwell and Josh Barnett make just $5,000.

The salaries are in for the UFC Athlete Outfitting pay for Saturday night's UFC on FOX 18 event, and Anthony Johnson, Ryan Bader and Jake Ellenberger were the top earners.

The outfitting policy launched in July, 2015, as part of the UFC's new sponsorship deal with Reebok and the sporting apparel company paid out a total of $137,500 for last night's event.

"Rumble", Bader and Ellenberger took home $15,000 each while MMA veterans Ben Rothwell and Josh Barnett earned just $5k (h/t MMA Junkie).

Anthony Johnson: $15,000
def. Ryan Bader: $15,000

Ben Rothwell: $5,000
def. Josh Barnett: $5,000

Jimmie Rivera: $2,500
def. Iuri Alcantara: $10,000

Bryan Barberena: $2,500
def. Sage Northcutt: $2,500

Tarec Saffiedine: $5,000
def. Jake Ellenberger: $15,000

Diego Ferreira: $2,500
def. Olivier Aubin-Mercier: $2,500

Rafael Natal: $10,000
def. Kevin Casey: $2,500

Wilson Reis: $5,000
def. Dustin Ortiz: $5,000

Alexander Yakovlev: $2,500
def. George Sullivan: $2,500

Alex Caceres: $10,000
def. Masio Fullen: $2,500

Randy Brown: $2,500
def. Matt Dwyer: $2,500

Damon Jackson: $2,500
vs. Levan Makashvili: $2,500

Tony Martin: $2,500
def. Felipe Olivieri: $2,500

Johnson brutalised Ryan Bader in the main event to earn a first round TKO stoppage while "Big Ben" became the first fighter in MMA to ever submit Barnett in the co-main event. Ellenberger, a veteran of 16 UFC fights, lost to Tarec Saffiedine on the preliminary card.

The Athlete Outfitting program pays fighters based on their total number of fights in the UFC, Zuffa-owned WEC, and Strikeforce from when the promotion merged with Zuffa. The payout tier system is listed below:

Fighters with 1-5 bouts: $2,500

Fighters with 6-10 bouts: $5,000

Fighters with 11-15 bouts: $10,000

Fighters with 16-20 bouts: $15,000

Fighters with 21 bouts or more: $20,000

Champions: $40,000

Title challengers: $30,000

A lot of truth here but there is no rationalizing an unproven rook like northcutt being on 40k to show plus another 40k if he wins whilst aljermain sterling can't negotiate higher than 14k/14k :scust:

To the casual ufc fan, not Mma but ufc fan they have no freaking clue who Aljermain sterling is. Sage yea hes a rook but his name and face is out there. Look at this msg board we talkin bout sage more and more each month. Look at twitter, I know fukk twitter but really. Sterling got 10k followers, Sage has 40k. Even as a rook he has a wider fan base to tap into.

And best part is if u build up Sage and his fan base, who ever knocks him out will go big and steal his crowd and shine. Much like how holly holm has got on now after beating Ronda.

Benson Henderson isnt far off of Phil Davis, Fitch, or Shields, at all. I remember people wanted Pettis to take the belt off of him so bad :mjlol: Guy had a nice title run and didnt win over fans atall. This isnt a big loss for UFC whatsoever

:camby: Why do you people say this dumb shyt. In what realm is Benson on the same level as Davis? And look how well Pettis is doing. Complete fukking flop

This whole (insert fighter) doesn't get finishes shyt is ridiculous. Jon Jones has gone to decision with his last three opponents, Robbie has gone 2 for 5 in finishes his last 5, they're not gonna knock out everyone. Bendo was far from a boring fighter but I guess with the rise of Conor plenty of fighters aren't gonna meet the criteria of being "exciting" enough.

You brought Pettis up? :dahell: No one cared that he won the belt. There was no clamoring for him. He won the belt and did the same numbers as Bensom. And stop piggybacking off screw face point. Benson put 12k Koreans in an arena over there. He has value. Comparing him to Davis and those other guys is absurd

Don't nobody give a fukk about 12k Koreans or Benson Henderson :heh:

If anything I'm insulting Phil Davis, he's way more valuable than Bendo
