DaMarques was way overweight in that last fight. They gave him 5 lbs (175) cause of the short notice and he missed that mark by 8 (183). You show up that overweight in the UFC, you're gone.

So that is not taking into consideration the fact that he took the fight at last minute?

Demarcus Johnson confirmed that he has been released by the UFC and Kyle Kingsbury still has a job. Both lost their last 3 fights and Demarcus even though he was overweight, took his last fight on a few days notice...hmmm

It's not a big loss. Yet considering how many cats are dropping left and right to the injury bug and how many are turning down fights I was surprised they didn't give him the obligatory Facebook prelim fight as thanks for the short notice fill in. He'll do aight in Bellator tho

I was a little surprised by his release, but not shocked I guess. Even though he took the fight on short notice, it was at a catch weight which he must have assured them he could make. When he missed weight again, and then lost the fight convincingly, the writing was on the wall.

I do think he'll be back though. He's got skills. Just maybe needs to get a little more serious about the game.
