1) Not a fan of Rory, but he looked impressive. He gave BJ maybe his most lop-sided loss ever. Props to BJ for withstanding the punishment though. A rematch with Condit would be very interesting. Rory is a very tough fight for anyone in the division.

2) Gus looked good, but not great. Shogun didn't look great at all, but he more than held his own in that fight. Right now, Jones and Machida would beat Gus pretty easily. Shogun's looping overhands were landing, imagine what an accurate/quick/dangerous striker like Machida would do to him.

3) Absolute destruction by Bendo. I had him winning, but I didn't think it would be that lop-sided. I imagined the fight being a back and forth war with Bendo coming out on top due to superior wrestling and strength. The winner of Pettis/Cerrone is the next logical step for Bendo. A fight with either of them looks great, but I would prefer a Pettis rematch.

I want to take this post to say goodbye to the elite/healthy/prime Shogun that we all knew and loved. :to: He's basically turned into a brawler, albeit, a good one at that. The turning point IMO was the Jones fight, he's never looked the same since. On the bright side, even in his decline, Shogun can still beat 90% of the division.

Soon as the 2nd round started i realized Shogun is done :to: :to: :to:

Why is this dude never in shape though :why:

there both done and neither realizes it

2 guys who need to move down in weight or simply retire

BJ should drop back to 155 or even FW. He's only 33. I think the retirement talk comes because he looks so shytty fighting at WW against opponents so much bigger then him. Same with Shogun. He just couldn't get anything going against Gus but when he did throw he's shots landed clean. He's could still beat anyone in the division besides Jones

I think it's a mix of:
- lack of desire/drive
- family
and most importantly, his injuries, which have caught up to him.

I agree with the BJ part, he should make another run at 155.

@ bolded: Right now, Shogun would get beat by Jones, Machida, Rashad, Hendo and Mousasi. 50/50 odds with Lil Nog, Glover and Davis [I would give the edge to Davis because of the stylistic match-up].

whats rorys future anyways? hes in the same division as his mentor? is he going to wait till hes old or something. he looks like he could make 185 easy
This is one thing that annoys me about Rory/Tristar. If he's not gonna fight GSP then why is he still in the 170 division? Wouldn't it make sense for him to move up to 185?

I got a feeling that GSP/Firas are preparing for an inevitable match against Rory, but they're just being tight-lipped about it right now.

There are actual athletes coming into the ufc now. A lot of guys in the past are just, guys who have a lot of heart, dedication to the art and like to fight but not necessarily athletic individuals.
