Hopefully Max runs thru Edgar, sick of seeing this dude in title fights. Volk shouldn't have to fight again to get a title shot, but having this fight in July probably rules out Max defending against him on the Adesanya/Whittaker card in Australia.

Volkanovski getting screwed over. Still not sure why they would book that, and not have Volkanovski co-main under the Whittaker Izzy fight in Australia. I mean you're trying to sell out a stadium, but you're not putting another Aussie on the card to co-main.

This and making the Tony Cowboy fight like the third fight of UFC 238 rather than the headliner of another card like it should be is making me wonder if they're handing the matchmaking reigns to some novice or something.
Max won’t be timid like aldo was. You can make sure of that. And Holloway’s reach is way longer than aldo. Also max might be stronger so that grinding against the fence might not work as good

Unless Holloway's reach is a laughable typo (and it probably is), their reaches are pretty similar. Aldo has a 5'10" reach and Max's is listed at 5'9" but is probably like 5'11" like his height. We're talking at most an inch.

But Max is the taller fighter and keeps this shyt standing. Superb boxer, picks his shots well, and the best part is obviously his gas-tank. There is no KO possible here for Volkanovski tbh. And yeah Max is surprisingly strong against the fence. He isn't compromised at 145 at all unlike others who cut weight.

UFC Featherweight Contender Alexander Volkanovski Hospitalized with Blood Infection

Alexander Volkanovski has had a hectic 72 hours, to say the least.

The Australian beat Jose Aldo at UFC 237 on Saturday by unanimous decision to become the top contender at featherweight. Then, on Tuesday evening it was reported that Frankie Edgar was getting a title shot against Max Holloway at UFC 240 instead of Volkanovski.

To make matters worse, as Volkanovski was on his way back from Rio de Janeiro, the 30-year-old complained about feeling sick along with sore feet and redness on his left foot. As his plane landed in Chile, the Australian felt worse and was taken to the hospital with a blood infection that ‘developed quickly.’

ESPN.com was first to report the news, which was later confirmed by Volkanovski’s manager, Rhys Dal Cin, on Twitter.

“Hey all, Alex is ok. He is being treated for an infection that developed quickly while on our flight home,” Dal Cin wrote. “We are currently in Chile and will provide updates as they come to hand. The medical staff have been fantastic, he’s in good hands, and Alex is in good spirits.”

As of now, there is no word on when Volkanovski will be released from the hospital.

Was wondering why he was skipped over...blood infection is no joke and he probably wasn't getting cleared for the summer.
