Machida wants no part of Jones anyway. He's been completely non-commital on a title shot ever since he beat Bader. He knows he'd get destroyed again.
Oh, if the fight happens, Chael should beat Shogun. Shogun probably has the worst take down defense in the UFC and his cardio is shyt.

Wow davis just agreed to book himself into gatekeeper status. Machida is a stylistic nightmare for him. His underdeveloped striking and wrestling will be completely negated by lyoto. Another contender killing fight by Silva. As far as shogun/sonnenSonnen basically has a job for life so there isnt any risk taking 2 week fights. I'm pretty sure shogun feels better about this then fighting lil nog. As long as he doesn't come in out of shape, he should be able to submit chael of his back

It's looking like Gus is getting the next shot at Jones, so Machida needs to stay busy and take another fight. Phil Davis is the only top ranked opponent that was available:
Alexander Gustafsson [fighting Jones]
Dan Henderson [Machida beat]
Glover Teixeira [looking at a 6 month medical suspension]
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira [injured and part of Machida's camp]
Rashad Evans [fighting Hendo]
Mauricio Rua [fighting on 161]
Phil Davis [available]
Gegard Mousasi [injured]
Ryan Bader [Machida already beat]
That is why Machida/Davis was made.
Right now, Machida and Gus are the only two fighters that deserve a crack at the LHW title. Machida was already beaten [pretty recent as well], so that leaves Gus. It's good that we have a fresh face against Bones.

Shogun matches up better with Lil Nog so I'm pretty sure he would rather fight him than Sonnen. Plus, I don't see him submitting Sonnen, he's never really threatened anybody with subs off his back.
Machida clearly beat Hendo, I don't see any bullshyt in that.

Damn you guys really given up of Shogawd huh? I disagree I think Sonnen, who is taking this fight on 2 weeks notice and coming off getting destroyed by Jones, matches up better with Shogun then lil nog. Sonnen is doesn't have his striking/BJJ. Plus, we all know how careless Sonnen is with his arms in the guard so Shogun, who is always active with the sub attempts/sweeps, can easily catch him. But like I said earlier, it all depends on his conditioning. If he allows Sonnen to smother him then its mute

I buy every single one. It can't be bad enough for me not to cop but I also think Rashad VS Hendo is going to suck. I always thought it would suck.
I hope they don't keep Shogun VS Chael now. It's a dumb fight if it's not needed imo.
