Davis should be next up for Gus. The rematch couldn't come at a better time than now and I think Gus would beat him decisively this go around.

I'ma Davis fan...but his striking/standup needs alot of work. Since they last fought, Gus has already become an elite fighter (still has room for growth) while Davis is still slowly coming along. Gus's lost against Bones was more impressive than Davis's win over Lyoto, which was questionable.

No way Gus takes a fight against Cormier. Too big of a risk for Gus and it would put a potential huge rematch that'll generate a ton of money at risk

I think Hendrick has a chance if he lands that power right hand. GSP's chin is suspect.

I have to really think about Hendricks being GSP's toughest opponent. I thought Condit was his toughest challange to date and look how that fight played out :manny:

And Condit held his own against Hendricks. If that was a 5 round fight, Condit would be #1 contender again, because Hendricks was fading.

I'm just not sure:patrice:

He's got a shot due to his power, I don't think he has the gas tank for 5 rounds he was gassing against Condit like @9th Street said. GSP has been quite hittable since the Shields fight, Johnny isn't fast or athletic enough to get to him tho I don't think. He reminds me of Koscheck, a standout wrestler who fell in love with knocking people out to the point it's his main tool.

Condit is who I think could unseat GSP if he gets another shot at him. That headkick he cracked GSP with wasn't a fluke

I have never been sold on ole flat foot.I dont know what it is about the ww division that has ppl in hysteria everytime gsp has an opponent its not like this guy is undefeated he lost to rick story :heh:

I knew something was up when hendricks had all that momentum off of beating kos & that whole dosey do between gsp and diaz/condit was happening and he said hed rather sit out (and wait for a titleshot) than accept another fight. You can even see it in the trailer as he throws a punch that his technique is so flawed gsp is going to embarrass him. And with this news of being micheal jacksoned he has a pre-recorded xcuse :mjpls:

I didn't say it was a gimmie fight breh. Assuming Cormier has a good cut to LHW, that would be a very tough fight for Gus..
but the ufc would never make that fight the genesis of my post is that they book a gimmie fight so the jones/gus rematch is not in jeopardy :why:

.
:comeon:And? That was 3.5 years ago, Gus has improved a lot more than Davis has. Gus avoids the TD and soundly out-strikes him. Even though they're teammates, they've said fighting each other is a definite possibility. I'm sure they would take a number 1 contender-ship match-up.
:rudy: you really think davis is going to train the guy only to accept a fight against him? stop it

I mean he can always KO GSP. He covers good distance with his left. But imo hes still a one dimensional threat. A 170lb Hendo. Itt will be a typical GSP fight of keeping Hendricks at the end of his jab and shooting for 7-8 TD's. Hendricks cardio is suspect imo. Another thing is in that primetime, they really focused on Hendricks wrestling credentials. I mean thats cool but how many times have we heard this about GSP opponents? MMA wrestling and collegiate wrestling are two different things. For example, Hendricks struggled taking down Koscheck while GSP did it with absolute ease. And lets be real, Condit beat Hendricks. He won the 2-3rd rounds when Hendricks faded. If he showed any semblance of TDD, Hendricks would not be in this fight

Because that didn't just happen with Machida/Munoz :childplease: If its for a title shot, they will fight.
the fukk has that got to do with anything, thats like saying well if jones/rashad could face each other why cant fitch/kos :what:: every man is different. Phil davis aint even ambitious and just because gus needs one match to get to the title doesnt dana is going to offer davis too

Earlier I said, 'I doubt the UFC does it' in reference to the UFC matching up Gus with Cormier.

Right now, there is really no 'gimmie' fight available at LHW, which is why I stated that Cormier should get Gus.

Well the options are limited, the fight makes a lot of sense and it'll be a number #1 contender match-up. Here's what Gus had to say about leaving Alliance MMA:

The fighter [Gus] also went on the record to say that he could see a potential fight with Davis looming and felt like it would be a better idea if they weren't training at the same gym.

I'm sure Davis shares similar sentiments.

Seriously do you just argue just for the fukk of it? :what: They already said they would not have a problem fighting each other. IDK why you mentioning those other guys because their situations were completely different from this. Phil Davis not ambitious?

Plus who else would Gus fight before the rematch that would make sense?

You got a link to verify that? :mjpls:

I dont know why you mentioned machida/munoz in the first place it was a dumb parallel. What peter or paul do or say is different from simon and timothy
video doesnt work and I dont care what he says on some "obscure site" now the shine is off em and hes in nowhere land. When he was getting talked about in the same sentence as jones (when he was on the come up) he basically had the attitude of "oh shucks i am just happy to be here".
