Johny Hendricks beat Robbie Lawler on Saturday night with a torn bicep and fractured shin.

Hendricks is doing the media rounds on Wednesday explaining the injury, but his manager Ted Erhardt confirmed with MMAFighting.com that Hendricks will have surgery on his right bicep Monday. According to Erhardt, Hendricks, who injured his bicep approximately two weeks before the fight and considered withdrawing from it as a result, heard it pop in the first round against Lawler. He also suffered a hairline fracture in his left shin in the first round.

If all goes well with Monday's surgery, he'll be able to start rehab in four weeks time. He'll then have four weeks of rehab and will hopefully be able to start training again in two months. The shin injury will need require a lengthy recovery period.

"We thought about it," Hendricks said on Monday's episode of The MMA Hour when asked about pulling out of the fight. "But that world championship means a lot more."

Hendricks defeated Lawler via unanimous decision in Dallas to become the new UFC welterweight champion.

Well it was abundantly clear that something was off about hendricks so this explains alot, in saying that u would think we would've heard about this at the post fight presser or from dana not the mma hour. Not really in line with the aw shucks persona he likes to play but then again we saw another side to this hick during the whole vada/bada banana fiasco

Dope poster but I despise when they make it a point to emphasize their backgrounds. I'm guessing Dana is hoping they can call Weidman "The Brazilian Killer"
considering he beats machida , thats 3 brazillians in their mid to late 30s so its :patrice:..Even Brazils last hope souza isnt exactly a spring chicken so its all smoke and mirrors

Imagine if Weidman were to beat Machida, Belfort and Jacare. That could possibly be the GOAT win streak (Anderson Silva x 2, Machida, Belfort and Jacare)
