And also why are they trying to make this fight so soon? Isnt the Aldo/Mendes fight in Aug also? Why are they trying to cannabalize that show by booking the money bout the same month? And they wonder why the smaller weight classes still aren't drawing

They have to. You have to plan your PPV's a long time in advance to book the PPV slot and the arena. The other PPV's slots are booked for the other card and they were saving this spot for 177 and this fight.

Why is Jones so dead set on not fighting Gus? (not saying he's ducking him). I thought Jones wanted bigger names/fights and vs. Gus, he'll do better PPV numbers imo. Either way, if they do Cormier/Jones, Gus will face the winner.

Why do u think? its the brock lesnar/gina carano syndrome its all fun and games being a mmaist when you can walk away from a fight with just a cut and soreness but once you receive your first official ass whipping suddenly you get a flash of your mortality. That fight haunts him psychologically i am sure.

ps he also stands to lose a lot of wealth if his career ends prematurely so hes entering this fight with trepidation.I always said he wasnt built for the grind

Honestly, if Jones prefers to fight Cormier, then sign that bout. Jones is the longest reigning champ in the company and hes earned that right. .
UFC set the precedent when they pulled that stunt with gsp and had him facing diaz instead of hendricks if they want to act like this is a problem now :patrice:
.
Plus Cormier is well deserving of a shot. I honestly think Cormier presents more of matchup problem then Gus now. I pick Jones over both guys, but if Cormier can use his speed/footwork to get inside like Machida did, it could get interesting. And Jones is not outwrestling Cormier
.
You pick jones over cain cormier? :why: jones couldnt take gus down till what the 4th-5th round? couldnt defend a TD when gus was fresh either but hes going to beat mr one dimensional 'I just want to get close to smother you like a bear' cormier? :leon:

Daniel Cormier: If Jon Jones Stalls, I'll Fight Gustafsson for Interim Title | Bleacher Report

"I know this will probably be unpopular, but if [Jones] won't sign, whether it be for money or a lack of wanting to fight the kid, I'll fight Alexander Gustafsson," Cormier said. "But it should be for the interim title...If they're putting a belt on the line, I don't care what date it is. It was never about Jones, I just want the title...Besides, it'll work out better for [Jones]; he won't have to fight both of us."

Diaz-Spider is the only fight I felt that I would wanna watch from Silva, if he didn't retire.

It just makes sense to me. With the right promotion, it EASILY does a million buys.

And Jones is a disciple(nuthugger :manny: )of Silva....he's just doing what Spider did leading up to the Sonnen rematch...playing as the dastardly heel that is constantly saying his old opponent doesn't deserve a rematch...then eventually rematching the opponent in a huge fight....he's just building the fight up. There's entirely too much sense in the rematch..Jones knows that.

And why do ppl keep saying Jones got his ass whooped when he was clearly the stronger fighter in the championship rounds?

Who was the only guy in that fight that got close to finishing his opponent? I can agree that they BOTH got their asses whipped in that fight but ppl wanna give too much credit to a guy who almost got knocked out in the 4th round and, even while doing well, was getting walked down for the majority of the fight. :snoop:

That's where I'm at. Gustaffson took him to waters he'd never been in absolutely. .. BUT I also think he likely missed his window to beat Jones. The element of surprise won't be there the second go around as Jones has now dealt with that range and movement so I'm not sure what wrinkles Gus can add to his game to fight the fight he fought that night again.

Anyone who actually wants to see Jones lose should be hoping he does fight DC instead because if he closes that distance at any point Jon is getting smothered. This is the UFC's own fault tho, they've set a deadly precedent by letting their champs publicly play matchmaker in the past

Silva vs Diaz. . Yes please.

Yeah, I think DC could be a nightmare for Jones...probably a slightly tougher fight than Gus. I think Jon beats both but the Cormier fight is almost a toss up, for me. Jones would probably win an ugly SD.

Troll Bones would fight at distance and try to make DC expend that cardio for 4 rounds and then try to finish him.

Cormier is not one-dimensional.
