I think Cormier takes the title whenever he gets his shot, so the UFC better do whatever it takes to get it done now if they ever want the Jones-Gus rematch to happen

Why would the UFC have Cormier and Gus fight though? All that would do is make sure that 1 of 2 huge fights they can do right now wont happen. They both deserve title shots and nobody else in the division is touchin either of them right now, so he's gonna be fighting both of them either way. The only reason I can see that he's makin a big deal about which one goes first is because he's ready to go to HW and is only plannin on doin 1 more fight at 205 and wants to get through Cormier before he moves up. To me thats the only logical explanation other than to say he's straight duckin Gus. And even if he is goin to HW now, he might still be duckin him. He has been talkin about movin up for a couple years now though

why shouldn't they fight, Gus suppose to be a contender, but he fought a guy who hasn't beating anyone

even if Gus fought cormier and lost, he would still be ranked in the top 5, and could easily get back in the title picture, by beating Rashad

:childplease: So I guess the Heat should have just got to pick who they played in the Finals too, huh? This isnt boxing. The UFC is a league and they are who should be pickin/makin fights, not the fighters.
So why did zuffa want gsp to face diaz when condit was due? why did dana say gsp earned the right to fight diaz when he was suppose to face hendricks? :why: I never knew ufc was a team sport that was played thru 82 games and had a best 7 series tourny consisting of 8 teams per conference :beli: just a terrible analogy and pathetic post.

Obviously this is money driven they are scared to give gus another fight in the event he gets got so they are cutting corners to make the fight now..They are holding off on cormier for the simple fact they know hes got the best shot at beating jones (in an anti-climatic fashion) and once that happens it takes the shine off gus/jones 2

Hearing rumors that Anderson Silva would like Nick Diaz when he comes back. If this is true, it'd be my two favorite fighters in the octagon against one another. :ooh:

So much fukkery... :whew:

People really want MMA fighters to be slaves

If UFC wants to call itself a league like the team sports then they should afford the same benefits to the fighters that athletes in those sports get. As it stands right now the sport is closer to boxing, the fighters are not employees, they are supposed to be partners in mutual agreements with the organization, in negotiations there is supposed to give and take on both sides and considering the UFC monopoly on fighting and how they run their business it's rare for a fighter to have much leverage on their side and they would be stupid not to maximize any point of leverage they have like Jones is doing now. He's not scared or ducking Gus, he's in a rare position where he can put out a reasonable proposition opposing what the UFC wants, if they're so adamant about him fighting Gus then bring something to the negotiating table, if not let him fight the guy many consider to be the true #1 contender and a more difficult matchup.

You're basically saying UFC (essentially 3 scummy billionaires) should have dictatorial control over fighters which is fukking stupid but I don't know maybe you're right, it's not as if UFC plays favorites and gifts certain guys title shots, seems to be a meritocracy where decisions are made based purely on in-ring performance

Ahead of the UFC’s first ever fight night in Albuquerque, two of the cities most prominent fighters engaged in a real-life fist fight during a training session.

Details are bleak on the matter, as situations like this usually stay in the gym, but Dave Meltzer, of ‘The Wrestling Observer’, spilled the beans.

Check it:

“If that’s not bad enough, there was a real fight in the gym with Bagautinov and Rustam Khabilov. While everyone is publicly playing it down, everyone also admits it happened. The way we heard it was Khabilov, who is a lightweight, gave Bagautinov a beating, although not bad enough to cause him to pull out of the fight.”

And Cormier is nursing a knee injury. I'd have him get surgery, heal up and face the winner of Gus/Jones.

Why are ppl comparing this to Diaz/GSP? Jones already got to chose his next opp and it was Glover. This fight should happen. I know Dana/Lorenzo will cry tears of joy when that title is off Jones

Quote from Jones:
I'm going to fight Glover and I will answer all the critics about the Gustafsson fight," Jones said preemptively. "I will fight Gustafsson after I fight Glover. I won the fight but I look at it as a blemish on my record because some people think I didn't. I promise you, he will be next."
