Jones first appeared at UFC 87 actually I was at that event. UFC 94 when he supplexed Bonnar's soul out of him was when he started getting eyes on him.
Everything u mentioned makes for a solid PPV. If nothing else Brock losing his mind for a while /snatching away from trainers/dissing sponsors yet he wasn't suspended or fired for alone made the night worthwhile

this was one those publicized fights where it became apparent ufc fans were really gullible. Its like what he did to a shot hughes/ late subsitute koscheck fooled heads into believe he was this ww chuck. Only all you had to see was his first fitch fight to know what he was about. "Bu bu but hes a different fighter" "he beat 2 wrestlers" "this is gsp's toughest test" which elite welterweight has this dude beat healthy since?

During the GSP fight, Alves was ranked the 2nd best WW at the time by every major media outlet. Yahoo sports had him as the 10th ranked P4P fighter at the time. 'He was never upper echelon though'.
