It just seemed like there were more fighters who were legit monsters but now it just seems like hype (sprinkled with a lot of wishful thinking)

What do you mean? The ones I mentioned are solid fighters. They've done very well when you consider the fact that the Dagestani people make up around (just) 2% of Russia's population.

Khabib is undefeated in MMA, 6-0 in the UFC (with wins over dos Anjos, Tibau, etc.) and with a win over Cerrone would be more than deserving of a title shot. If he beats Cerrone, who would be more deserving of title shot than Khabib?
