He isn't first dibs on Hendricks when he gets back so there's a chance he could end up matched with Lombard or Condit which is dangerous for a "safe" fighter like Rory. A decision win against Nelson would let him sit to the side safely keeping his rank intact till the Brown/Lawler/Hendricks situation sorts itself.

Uhh Lombard is hurt, and so is Condit. Neither one of them is that dangerous tho. Lombard is similar to Woodley in terms of being a power striker with suspect cardio. We already saw how Rory/Woodley went. Mcdonald already tooled Condit despite that lucky TKO finish. And hes only got better since then. The point is what has Gunnar done that warrants him a fight with a top contender like that? How do you go from Cummings(who Gunnar didn't look impressive at all beating imo) to McDonald? Why should Rory entertain that bout against a guy ranked outside the top ten? What does that do for him

bruh condit was hurt going on 5 months ago, he should be good by December. No idea on Lombards timetable but Dec is another 5 months. Other than that he could get DHK if he beats Woodley, but Lombard and Condit will both be healthy by then. If he doesn't take Nelson I could see a Condit re-asswhipping next. Otherwise there's pretty much noone else for him in the top 10

and smh @ lucky TKO. He got finished by a natural born killa. ever since that fight Rory lost all his aggression and went to the GSP school for point-fighters.

Rory did not tool Condit. Rory did win the first 2 rounds (didn't really do much in the 2nd though) and then got his ass beat badly in the third. If the fight would've been allowed to continue, it would've been very likely a draw.

Condit tore his ACL so he may be out until mid march of next year. IDK what Lombard's injury is but if hes ready by fall then I guess him and Macdonald can fight. Honestly, Rory should have the next shot over Lawler/Brown. IDK why they delaying the inevitable. Because when hes on his game, no one can beat Macdonald in this division right now. And yes it was a lucky win. Finish with 10 sec left? He lost the first two rounds easily

Rory did not tool Condit. Rory did win the first 2 rounds (didn't really do much in the 2nd though) and then got his ass beat badly in the third. If the fight would've been allowed to continue, it would've been very likely a draw.

That third round was not a 10-8 and the stoppage was kinda suspect.. Rory clearly won the first two with his pressure, stiking, and TD. And he would win a rematch again easily right now

Most of the 3rd round consisted of Rory trying to survive, it was definitely a 10-8. I would give the slight advantage to Rory if they were to fight again (because of his wrestling), but it would be far from an easy win. Condit is a tough fight for any WW, I don't remember the last time he was easily beaten.

Naw. Rory was still winning up until the 3 min mark when Condit got top position and started raining down elbows. So it wasn't a ten 8. Condit will truly never beat the top echelon due to his shytty TDD/striking defense and his slow starts. Its a shame because hes a very good fighter

Not 3 min, it was at the 4:20 mark when Condit got on top. So MacDonald was trying to survive for a solid 4 minutes. The point is, MacDonald lost and it was definitely not flukey. And his striking defense is not shytty (not calling it great or anything).

Going through the top 10 WWs, there isn't a WW in my opinion that would very clearly beat Condit.

Breh, I remember Rory was still landing on him before the TD. If he hadn't got that stoppage he would have lost and the majority of ppl scored it so.

Majority of people had it 10-9 Rory for the first 2 rounds and 10-8 Condit the last round. And the first 2 rounds were close too. Condit was not getting tooled at all.
