I'm honestly baffled by how little recognition Nappy Roots get as not only one of the best collectives in hiphop, but for having some of the best output by a hip hop artist period.

Obviously they are widely known as a 1-Hit Wonder for the song "Aww Naww" but their talent and career are so much more than that. Alot of people left off after their first commercial release(Watermelon, Chicken, and Gritz), but i feel like that was just the beginning and they've released multiple 4/5+ albums since that, including: Wooden Leather, The Humdinger, Pursuit of Nappyness, Nappy Dot Org(produced by Organized Noize), and more.

Lets appreciate dem country boyz!!

I could post so many more joints...I'ma let it breathe tho. Appreciate :blessed: :wow:

Have to bump this one...

Watermelon Chicken and Gritz was one of the first hip-hop albums I bought. I was 8 when it dropped. That country blues vibe was so strong, little me was amazed by it :wow:

I didn't know what Blowin Trees meant back then, but I thought it had a good message because they mentioned it was the life God chose for them :mjcry:

Those guitar notes and beautiful harmonizing too

Thanks for this. I've always loved "po folks" ... and every time I hear it, I think I owe this group more listens. So i'll try that over some beers tonight.

This is one of the most underrated Southern groups in history. Hate they broke up. They were like the precursor to Big KRIT.
