So if someone gets a sealed Switch 2 and a sealed Atari 2600 in 20 years the Atari will work without issues but the switch will be a brick

I prob expect this is just for the systems that were shipped out before the release date. More than likely, those batches after won't need the patch work it to work.

Well, regardless of if I am right or wrong, this is implementation is fukking stupid just to prevent leaks. Nintendo's decisions as a business are just becoming more greedy and dumber by the year.

I don't think you're supposed to leave a rechargeable battery on the charger for years. That being said either way the battery will end up failing because after a period of time it won't hold a charge anymore with normal use.
