NWA Set to Run 70th Anniversary Show in Nashville

The National Wrestling Alliance will host a 70th anniversary show in October that promises to “honor the fighting spirit and big-bout feel worthy of the NWA name.”


Since Billy Corgan took over, the NWA has largely been relegated to heavyweight championship rather than a promotion that runs traditional shows … with the champion being featured on their YouTube series called “Ten Pounds of Gold.”

That changes on October 21 at the Nashville Fairgrounds, however, with an event that will be produced in association with Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Entertainment and stream on FITE TV. The title will be defended by either current champ Nick Aldis — or his “All In” challenger Cody Rhodes.

“It’s such an honor to be leading this historic brand into its next chapter,” NWA owner Billy Corgan said in a news release. “The enduring legacy of the National Wrestling Alliance — the men who forged it and the champions who defended it — illuminate our path in 2018. This event celebrates our first full year shepherding this brand while honoring the everlasting milestones, legends and champions of the NWA.”

The NWA folks also announced the return of the NWA National title for the Nashville event.

More matches and talent will be announced in coming weeks.

Tim Storm's a teacher, too? This means he and Hangman Adam Page will have to have some kind of schoolyard themed falls count anywhere match.

Page is an infinitely better worker than storm and imo, page right now has what would be my moty candidate with jay white.

Past that. Nwa could only pray they get hangman page at this point.
Page has it. Plus every accessory from the gimmick, best ramp up in ring attire arguably in wrasslin history to an all time best cosmetic change from logo to presentation.
Page is basically a superstar in this racially charged climate waiting to be monetized correctly. Now granted. I do not like the idea of what the hangman symbolizes. Nor the tone of how page is. Yet outside that page is that next guy, judging by the past work and ramp up recently.
Nwa could only hope to get a guy that damn good.

It would be am immediate improvement.
Plus he could carry or meet in the middle every talent in the biz to make the matches worth an amplification in draw.

Aldis is cutting some great promos and these videos are doing an amazing job of capturing tension and atmosphere.

Y'all need to catch up.

Recently, Aldis went to the ECW Arena for a House of Hardcore show and beat Tommy Dreamer.

Then he went on to face longtime friend Crimson at a TNT Pro Wrestling show in Tennessee, but played possum/the sympathy card during the match to score the surprise pin, then he blasted Crimson with the belt afterwards and put him in the cloverleaf. Then Jocephus came out and got in Aldis' face and Aldis backed down, which now sets up this...

Jocephus is damn good and realistic in what is supposed to be a far from mainstream type character.
This makes more real world sense than bray Wyatt to be frank ij just this one promo.

This guy is good on camera as a personality and character. That could be swung as a draw building asset.
If utilized and also if utilized with a scope properly may gain supplemental traction and bring some interest over time and consistency of product.

Something they are referring to as a "pop up event". It's basically being put on by TNT Pro Wrestling (which apparently is owned by Crimson) using NWA champs, it seems like. Not sure if it'll be streamed or if it's even a full card.
